If you are a fan of the FF16 Final Fantasy XVI’s combat then these hunt marks are quite the treat. Harder enemies and fun fights that really test your skills. They are a great addition to the game. Here’s a list of hunt marks, when they are available and where to find them. For successfully completing them we will be rewarded with the Think, Mark! Hunter, Hunted and Careful Whisper trophy achievements

  • 10 Renown
  • 10 Magicked Ash

Notorious Mark #2: Belphegor

Belphegor is a rather ugly small dragon type enemy. The main problem you may have with him is his wind attack. He’ll beat his wings to stun you and then charge at you, it’s very hard to dodge after being hit by that first attack, be careful.

The Belphegor is located in The Imperial Province of Rosaria. South of The Broken Hilt.

Level: 30

Rewards:

  • 700 XP
  • 60 AP
  • 8000 Gil
  • 20 Renown
  • 2 Dragon Talons

Notorious Mark #3: Aruna – The Angel of Death

Aruna is a leftover of one of Garuda’s summons and something you are likely used to fighting by this point. I think that’s why she’s only a C rank hunt mark.

Located at The Holy Empire of Sanbreque, at Claireview.

Level: 27

Rewards:

  • 350 XP
  • 40 AP
  • 6200 Gil
  • 10 Renown

  • 55 AP
  • 8200 Gil
  • 20 Renown

  • 800 XP
  • 60 AP

Severian is a Fallen Machine enemy type. It will throw energy ball at a distance and attack with wide sweeping and spinning duel lightsabres.

Can be found at The Imperial Province of Rosaria. North west of Martha’s Rest.

Level: 31

  • 800 XP
  • 70 AP

  • 1 Electrum

Main Quest: Bolts from the Blue

Notorious Mark #7: Muddy Murder – Flan Prince

The Flan Prince comes from a long and proud line of Final Fantasy Slime monsters. He carries on the proud tradition of being named after tasty things but being gross and stretchy. Don’t underestimate his reach.

Another one found in the Province of Rosaria. North of Hawk’s Cry.

Main Quest: Riddle of the Sands

Notorious Mark #8: A Hill to Die On / Fastitocalin

Fastitocalon is a Tortoise type monster and if you have ever seen the mount in FFXIV you’ll know these boys like to spin to win. If he jumps back and starts to spin in his shell, know he about to charge right at you!

Situated at The Dhalmekian Republic. North east of Velkroy Desert.

Level: 34

Rewards:

  • 1100 XP
  • 65 AP
  • 10000 Gil
  • 20 Renown
  • 2 Scarletite

Main Quest: Out of the Shadow

Notorious Mark #9: Soul Stingers

My least favourite hunt mark. The Soul Stingers are a group of wasp-like enemies that fly. Though they have no stagger bar, they are technically bosses which makes the tactic of pulling them down with Garuda unreliable. Your best bet is to phoenix charge up to them then slam them to the ground with a plunge.

Can be found at The Dhalmekian Republic. Towards the Fields of Corava.

Level: 32

The Soul Stingers location

Rewards:

  • 400 XP
  • 40 AP
  • 5500 Gil
  • 10 Renown
  • 50 Sharp Fan
  • 20 Bloody Hide
  • 10 Magicked Ash

Notorious Mark #10: Grimalkin

A pretty easy C rank hunt mark. Grimalkin is big cat with a pack and makes you fight it’s underlings before it sees fit to jump into the arena with you.

Another one situated over at The Dhalmekian Republic. East of The Jaw.

Level: 32

Rewards:

  • 500 XP
  • 45 AP
  • 6100 Gil
  • 10 Renown
  • 50 Grimalkin Hide

Notorious Mark #11: The Nine of Knives

We all know that human enemies are the toughest. You’ll find Nine of Knives surrounded by bodies and he’ll quickly show you have that happened. He’s a tough version of the Ninja type enemies you’ve faced, fast and hits hard. He’ll be a tough fight. Go in prepared, stocked up with potions.

He can be found in The Dhalmekian Republic region. Proceed to The Jaw area.

Level: 38

Rewards:

  • 5000 XP
  • 90 AP
  • 10500 Gil
  • 30 Renown
  • 25 Wyrrite
  • 2 Meteorite

Notorious Mark #12: The breaker of Worlds / Atlas

Congrats you found your first S rank hunt mark! Now turn around and leave Atlas alone for a while. It’s somewhat cruel of the game to put Atlas here in the story. There may be a 10+ level difference between the two of you at this point and you will feel it. Atlas is fast, hits hard and the further his health goes down the more he starts layering aoe affects.

My best suggestion is to come back to him. You won’t need the rewards he drops for a while so you’re not missing out on anything and he’ll patiently wait for you to become worthy of his challenge.

Atlas is situated over at The Imperial Province of Rosaria. South of The Broken Hilt

Level: 45

Discovering the Atlas location

Rewards:

  • 15000 XP
  • 120 AP
  • 20000 Gil
  • 50 Renown
  • 1 Fallen Iron
  • 1 Orichalcum

Main Quest: Letting Off Steam III

Notorious Mark #13: Bomb King

As mentioned in the ‘With Two Ds Trophy Achievement’ Guide. The Bomb King is a Bomb type enemy that appears during the ‘Weird Science’ side quest.

We can find the Bomb King over at The Holy Empire of Sanbreque. At the Imperial Chase, south of the map.

Level: 33

Rewards:

  • 1000 XP
  • 65 AP
  • 9000 Gil
  • 20 Renown
  • 1 Bomb Ember

Main Quest: Things Fall Apart

Notorious Mark #14: The Ten of Clubs

Another human enemy but this time one of the types that swings a large axe so in my opinion of bit easier than The Nine of Knives.

Situated at The Dhelmekian Republic. South of the Fields of Corava.

Level: 35

Rewards:

  • 2200 XP
  • 70 AP
  • 9200 Gil
  • 20 Renown
  • 1 Scarletite
  • 1 meteorite

Notorious Mark #15: The Mageth Brothers

One of my favourite hunts. There isn’t many time this game throw multiple stageable enemies at you so having three large axe wielding men on you at once is such a wonderful test of skills and reflexes.

We can find The Mageth Brothers over at the Imperial Province of Rosaria. At the Quiet Sands.

Level: 35

Rewards:

  • 5100 XP
  • 90 AP
  • 13000 Gil
  • 30 Renown
  • 2 Meteorite

Notorious Mark #16: Ruin Reawakened / Svarog

Another S class hunt, Svarog is a very large dragon but go in prepared and make keep in mind the level difference, however if you manage Svarog you’re ready to try your hand at Atlas again.

Located at The Holy Empire of Sanbreque. In Mornebrume. South of the map.

Level: 50

  • 25000 XP
  • 300 AP
  • 30000 Gil
  • 60 Renown
  • 1 Orichalcum
  • 1 Fallen Enigma
  • 1 Amber
  • 1 Empty Shard

Main Quest: Cloak and Dagger

Notorious Mark #17: The Pack

As the name suggests this is a group of dogs. Though they don’t fly, like the Soul Stingers they don’t have stagger bars but class as bosses so Garuda’s pull is unreliable again for this fight.

The Pack is situated over in The Dhalmekian Republic. At The Gilded Path.

Level: 33

Rewards:

  • 700 XP
  • 50 AP
  • 5800 Gil
  • 10 Renown
  • 20 Sharp Fang
  • 50 Bloody Hide
  • 10 Magicked Ash

Notorious Mark #18: The Man in Black / Holy Trumpitour

Remember way back when you went after your first mother crystal and you fought that guy in the mines with the giant cannon? Guess whose back?

This mark also will not appear until you have done the ‘For Great Justice II’ side quest.

Located at The Holy Empire of Sanbreque. West of Lostwing.

Level: 36

Rewards:

  • 2200 XP
  • 75 AP
  • 9800 Gil
  • 20 Renown
  • 1 Scarletite
  • 1 Meteorite

Main Quest: A Song of Hope

Notorious Mark #19: Dread Comet

If you have something against beating on a chocobo then you should probably skip this one.

If you don’t mind beating on a chocobo then a word of warning. The Comet has no stagger bar. You can pull it down with Garuda but it’s hit and miss and hard to tell when your windows are.

Dread Comet explores The Dhalmeskian Republic region. Near The Sickle.

Level: 38

The Dread Comet location which is a hunt mark in FF16

Level: 35

Rewards:

  • 2000 XP
  • 70 AP
  • 10000 Gil
  • 20 Renown
  • 1 Morbol Flower
  • Key Item: Morbol Tendril

Main Quest: Across the Narrow

Notorious Mark #21: The Tricephalic Terror / Gorgimera

In my opinion the easiest S rank hunt but that also may be because it’s given to you when you should be at a level to manage it. This chimera-type monster shouldn’t be too much of a challenge but come prepared with potions just encase.

Gorgimera is located at the Dhelmeskian Republic. In the Velkroy Desert.

Level: 45

The map to finding the Gorgimera hunt mark

Rewards:

  • 15000 XP

One of those large Orc Shaman-type enemies, Pandemonium has a wide swing and can teleport. Its biggest threat is when it charges its laser it will teleport at the last second so expect it to come from a different angel than what is obvious.

Loving the name. Pandemonium teleports its way to The Kingdom of Waloed. Towards Skaithfarr

  • 120 AP
  • 20000 Gil
  • 50 Renown
  • 1 Stained Loincloth

Main Quest: Brotherhood

Notorious Mark #23: Gobermouch

This tiny goblin type enemy is harder than you would expect. Like some other smaller enemies you have hunted so far, he has no stagger bar so Garuda is again unreliable. Watch out for his cub spinning attack, it’s more deadly than it looks.

Gobermouch is over at The Kingdom of Waloed. At the Maudlin Mason.

Notorious Mark #26: Usher to the Underworld / Thanatos

Thanatos is one of those large fleshy fallen enemies that has a large laser in his chest.

We can find Thanatos playing with Iron Ma.. oh wait. Wrong game. This version is actually exploring The Dhalmekian Republic. East of Kretov.

  • 9000 XP
  • 110 AP
  • 17000 Gil
  • 45 Renown
  • 1 Darksteel

‘The Blood Moon’ is a much cooler name than this hunt deservers. It’s the round boy fallen Node. A very easy hunt and is in the same place as the bomb king.
