FIFA meets Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2

Yes, the title is not a prank, it’s looking more and more likely that a FIFA X Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 collaboration is in the works and might be coming really soon.

The information comes from a renowned and well-respected Call of Duty leaker suggesting that the footballing world and the massively multiplayer FPS world might join forces to deliver an experience like no other.

The best way to find leaks is through data mining and that’s exactly what happened. CoD leaker TheGhostOfHope revealed a list of football players that may be coming to Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2.

Down below is the complete list of players rumored to be making an appearance:

  • Aksel
  • Connor
  • Klaus
  • Luna
  • Messi
  • Neymar
  • Pogba
  • Roze
  • Reyes
  • Gramsci

Call of Duty is not afraid to do new things and that has been evident especially within the past few years. There’s always a desire to keep things fresh whether it be through new additional features in games or daring collaborations such as these.

Such a collaboration wouldn’t be out of place for the franchise as they have done a similar thing in the past though not at this scale. Collaborations with celebrities can be seen in past trailers with cameos from celebrities such as comedian Pete Davidson and rappers Lil Baby, Nicki Minaj and Jack Harlow. They have also used assets from other IPs as cosmetic enhancments ranging from Rambo and Scream to the Die Hard series of movies plus so much more.

It is rumored that this time round the football players will feature as operators in the game instead of making trailer appearances, this due to the names being retrieved from game files. Game file leaks would suggest something in the works or ready for deployment making the rumors seem more and more plausible.

Another sport-related leak related to Modern Warfare 2 involves leaks of a new Grand Prix Map for Modern Warfare 2. The leak showcases images used as loading screens and Beta UI clearly revealing the map to be the Marina Bay circuit in Singapore.

The leak shows parts of the map accessible to players such as the race track’s starting grid where cars can actively be seen going round the map.

One of a number of pictures of the leak can be seen below

It is obvious the direction Modern Warfare is taking is quite strategic as both leaks indicate a leaning towards sports content which makes so much sense. Formula 1 is receiving more and more attention nowadays and quickly gaining fans internationally while football on the other hand is arguably the most widespread sport in the world with an audience of over 1 billon people. The timing also couldn’t be any more perfect for the release of Modern Warfare 2 as the FIFA World Cup – The biggest sporting event in the world- is set to begin on the 20th of November 2022.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 will be released on the 28th of November for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and Series S, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows.
