Tom Clancy’s Elite Squad – The Mobile Crossover Is Being Shut Down After Less Than A Year

Game News Smartphone News

Tom Clancy’s Elite Squad is officially being shut down despite the game only being released back in August 2020, thus making it less than a year old.

The game was made into a role-playing crossover title which featured iconic characters from various popular games including; Splinter Cell, Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon, The Division and more..

In the game players get the chance to become the commander of this Elite Squad and lead their team to victory in various 5v5 battles.

However, as of October 4th, 2021 the development team will turn off the servers and no more updates will be made to the game.

Some speculate that the reasoning behind the decision to shut it down is due to a mixture of the on-going Black Lives Matter movement, which has swept around the world and various different nations including both the United States and the United Kingdom. The Black Lives Matter all started due to the murder of George Floyd. Meanwhile within Tom Clancy’s Elite Squad there was an image (which has now been removed) which featured a black raised fist at the enemy logo, all of which ended up giving the game a lot of negativity during its release.

The announcement of the shut down came with a message from the developers, which read the following..

”Greetings Commanders,

It is with a great deal of sadness that we are announcing we will no longer be releasing new content for Elite Squad. Today’s update will be our last, and on October 4th, 2021 we will shut the servers down.

This was not an easy decision, but after exploring multiple options with our teams, we came to the conclusion that it was no longer sustainable. We want to assure you all that we really gave it our best, especially with big updates like Season 2, and it was a truly rewarding experience to work with you, our passionate community!

We sincerely hope that you have enjoyed playing with us as much as we have enjoyed making the game and engaging with you all on social media and Discord. We hope that some of you stick around with us and have fun reaching level 70 and unlocking all of the soldiers you can before we say goodbye.”
