Both the XBox One and XBox Series X/S enjoyed a backwards compatibility update this past week, this included over 70 brand new titles from the original XBox and XBox 360, titles such as the entire Max Payne series, the F.E.A.R franchise, Dead or Alive: Ultimate, Star Wars: Starfighter, and many more…
However, what has also been announced is that players and fans can no longer expect any more backwards compatibility updates after this past one, the reasoning behind this is all down to licensing and legal constraints and issues.
So unfortunately, if your favourite title has yet to be given the backwards compatibility treatment, then it is highly likely it never will.
The team at XBox had the following to say regarding the situation..
”While we continue to stay focused on preserving and enhancing the art form of games, we have reached the limit of our ability to bring new games to the catalog from the past due to licensing, legal and technical constraints. Thank you for being part of this journey with us.”
For those wondering what this last and final backwards compatibility update consisted of, then below is a list of the various different games..
