(TLOH2) Trails Of Cold Steel 2 – Rean Is Back! Things Are Heating Up! Our Review Is On Fire!

Game Reviews

Trails of Cold Steel 2 is a Japanese RPG game that follows up from the events in Trails Of Cold Steel. It is also part of the Legend Of Heroes series. You play as a young hero in an adventure to take back Thors Military Academy, upon doing so you are also tasked to find and locate your lost comrades.

The gameplay is very easy to understand that even an idiot like ourselves can get their head around it. You have your typical RPG elements such as spell casting and ultimate Limit Break moves, although in this it is called, S-Break.
There is a levelling system, though thankfully there is not much of a grind at least not on Normal Difficulty. There might be more of a grind on higher difficulties such as Nightmare Mode which only unlocks after completing the game at least once, unfortunately we have not had the chance to experience that difficulty at present but we do look forward to doing so in the future.

The story is very captivating. It in all honesty is very difficult for us to remain interested and focused on RPG games these days, considering how long they are but Trails Of Cold Steel manages to pull this off quite easily and is the only RPG series of this generation that has managed to do so.
Every character is likeable and has unique personalities and abilities during combat. There is even the option to strengthen your character bond with each individual and in doing so this unlocks new Linked Abilities for use in combat.
The game tries hard to make you like each character and in our opinion does a good job of it too

The soundtrack is another feature we really wanted to acknowledge. The composition is incredible and we really do enjoy the different beats and really just want to praise the individuals responsible for a job well done.

OVERALL:
Trails Of Cold Steel is still one of our favourite game series and we look forward to playing and experiencing the other games in the series too. We cannot praise this series enough.
The only minor gripe we have with it is there is the odd frame rate issue, which for the most part is fine with us but it is somewhat noticeable.
