Head out into the Wasteland and not too far from the Eden entrance you will find dialogue messages pop up randomly. If you keep heading towards the Save Point you should find a small boy laying on the Sand. Apparently this kid was out looking for his father but failed to find him.
After talking to him your next destination will be the Highland Village, from there you will automatically encounter a cutscene along with a fight. Sub Story ends after the fight.
