After completing the Mariner’s Keep area, you’ll enter a forest where a beast is rumored to lurk. Traveling through it will lead you straight to Warrick the Torn, the first boss in No Rest for the Wicked. He can be really difficult to defeat, especially if you’re not used to the game yet. In this guide, I’ll walk you through defeating Warrick the Torn.
Preparing for the Warrick Fight in No Rest for the Wicked
Before the fight with Warrick, there are five things you want to do. Firstly, I recommend finishing the Potion Seller quest and defeating the enemies in the nearby areas. This will allow you to gather better equipment and money while gaining a few levels.

When you’ve done this, the second thing you need to do is save your progress at the Whisper site near the fishing pond in the woods.

While you’re here, you’ll to repair your weapons and armor with Fillmore. I also recommend getting some Flamescale Oil for your blade and, most importantly, Scrap Bombs. If you’ve got the money, I recommend getting around a dozen as you’ll be able to take our Warrick with those alone. If not, just grab a few to help boost your damage.

Of course, don’t forget to prepare plenty of food at the campfire in the woods. You can also hear a bit about Warrick from the father and daughter here.

Defeating Warrick in No Rest for the Wicked using a Sword
Warrick’s strengths lie in his speed, his jumping ability, and the power behind his sword. While fighting him, it felt like he moved with the speed of a lightly armored fighter while hitting with the power of a heavy unit. In order to defeat him, you’ll need to understand his movements and take advantage of the spaces between his attacks.

I’ve found that the easiest time to hit him by sword is when he’s disoriented after doing a spin attack. This most commonly occurs when he does a large jump attack, which will transition into a spin after which he will be still on the ground for a few moments. This will also occur after he has done a spin attack alone, but the spin after jumping is easier to predict. While he is prone, you’ll be able to get a few good hits in. However, you’ll want to back up quickly to get out of his sword’s range.

Players using Scrap Bombs can throw one while he recovers after using any attack. If you have 10 bombs, you can throw them at him from the start. If you only have a few scrap bombs, I recommend saving them for the second phase to take out the more dangerous version of Warrick faster.
Defeating Warrick the Torn using Scrap Bombs in No Rest for the Wicked
If you have at least 10 or 11 Scrap Bombs, you’ll be able to defeat Warrick with those alone. This is because each scrap bomb does 30 damage. While this doesn’t sound a lot, it’s a decent bit more than your sword alone. The image below depicts how much damage one bomb does to Warrick’s total health.

Keep your distance from Warrick and throw the bombs after dodging one of his attacks. This method allows you to save most of your stamina for dodging while actually doing more damage in a short amount of time than your main weapon is able to. It might feel a little cheesy, but it’s surprisingly very effective. Just be cautious about straying too close to the edges on the right side of the area. Warrick can easily knock you off of the platform with one or two swings in that area.
Warrick’s Second Phase
The fight becomes much more difficult when Warrick enters his second phase. This happens when he has lost half of his health, causing his attacks to increase in power tremendously. I find the Scrap Bomb method to be the most efficient in this area of the game, as swinging and dodging around him leaves you open to all of his attacks.
