YS IX – Monstrum Nox : Art-isan Is Suffering (Side Quest) Guide

Game Guides

Art-isan Is Suffering is one of the many side quests that you can complete within Ys IX: Monstrum Nox

It involves an apprentice Blacksmith and their master having a dispute about a shield. It can be found and completed during Chapter 7 – Capriccio of the Prison

  • CLIENT: Berling
  • DEADLINE: Short
  • PRIORITY:  2/3 (2 Star)
  • REWARD: Feather Shield
  • LOCATION: Dandelion – Bulletin Board
  • CHAPTER: Chapter 7 – Capriccio of the Prison
  • Inspect the Dandelion – Bulletin Board in order to pick up this side quest
  • After that we can now proceed to Artisan Lane. It is here where you will notice the Blacksmith
  • Seems that the Blacksmith and his apprentice have been having a bit of an argument over a newly created Shield. So Potts (the apprentice) decided to run off
  • After the scene, you will now want to head to Milianne Plains
  • Here you will find Potts standing by a tree. Go ahead and speak to him.
  • Eventually you will learn that he wants to test out his newly created Shield. You will now need to equip it on someone in your activate party.
  • You will also now need to defeat 15 Mushroom Monsters (Vrogium)
  • Okay, so once again be sure to equip the Prototype Shield on any active party member.
  • As for the Mushroom Monsters (Vrogium) these can be found all across the area. They often jump around and explode which can obviously cause a fair bit of damage.
  • Defeat 15 of the Vrogium in order to continue with the quest. The game will tell you when all 15 are defeated, unfortunately there is no counter within the game itself. Instead you have to wait and rely on the game telling you after the required amount have been dealt with. You can of course count them yourself if need be.
  • Once done playing about with Mushrooms, you can then report your activity to Potts and we can finally progress and you will get an improved version of the Prototype Shield as a reward.

  • Trouble’s starting to brew among the craftsman, and I’d like some outside help on my end
  • If anyone sees fit to accept this request, come speak with me at the Craft Guild
