This Final Fantasy VII Remake: INTERMission (DLC) walkthrough covers Chapter 1 – Wutai’s Finest, in which we will be trying to cover as much as possible. This includes any collectibles that we come across, any opportunity to pet the local kitties and more! I’m joking about that latter part by the way, sadly despite the world being full of the adorable moggies there is no option to pet the kitties, sad face.
Anyway let us begin…
- After the opening cinematic ends continue on along the path and you will arrive at your first wave of enemies, the Toxirat .
- You will also get a fight tutorial too. Yuffie has a range of different attacks most of which relate to her Boomerang, feel free to experiment with her. Hitting the ‘Square’ button over and over will chain up your combo attacks, however you can also use the ‘Triangle’ button to throw your Boomerang and press the ‘Triangle’ again to call the Boomerang back.
- Whilst the Boomerang is out you can hit ‘Square’ over and over to cast spells that are automatically given to Yuffie, you can switch over to her ‘Fire Magic’ using the abilities option and selecting Fire Ninjitsu
- The Boomerang is great to use when up against any flying monsters, sometimes if timed correctly the Boomerang can stun the flying enemy making them easier to attack by following that with a ‘Square’ attack. So yeah feel free to experiment with both the ‘Square’ and ‘Triangle’ buttons and go with a play style that suits you, Yuffie really is quite fun to play as.
- After the fight hop over the sandbags to face a different set of enemies, this time we have the Gorger. You will also get a tutorial basically explaining what I have already told you regarding the Fire Ninjitsu and such
- The game will now tell you about throwing the Boomerang in order to smash crates and various other breakable objects. You can receive a Hi-Potion from these boxes so be sure to test out your Boomerang on the boxes here
- Generally if something can be interacted with then it will have an icon on it. After smashing the boxes you can then cross the bridge
- You will now come across your first flying monster, The Lesser Drake. Remember what I told you, attack these guys with the Boomerang ‘Triangle’ and then follow it up with a basic attack ‘Square’.
- If you manage to stagger any monster that you come across you will be rewarded with the Staggering Start trophy achievement. To know if the enemy is about to hit ‘Stagger’ then look closely at the bar below its health, if this bar fills then it will stagger and become weak and stunned for a short period of time
- After the fight go ahead and climb under the garage door
- If you look up you may notice some more breakable boxes, ignore those as they don’t contain anything. Next to it will be a pink coloured Materia ball, unfortunately we cannot do anything about that, not yet anyway so continue on
- A scene will trigger and you will come across a robed man who is acting kind of strange. Reunion? hmm.. anyway ignore him for now
- If you head towards the elevator Yuffie will mention that ‘she can’t get anywhere until that elevator is moving again’. So get out your trusty Boomerang and aim it at the top elevator in order to activate it, you can now ride the elevator up to the next floor
- Nothing much here so just hop over the planks, now remember that pink Materia from before? Let’s go and get it shall we?
- If you look over towards the other side you should notice another elevator, so once again aim your Boomerang at it in order to activate it. Then climb down the ladder and ride it up
- You will now be able to claim that lovely pink Materia, HP Up Materia obtained
- Now ride the elevator back down and BEFORE we go back up to the other side once again, here on the ground floor there should be a treasure chest containing x2 Hi-Potions
- We can now continue with the story by going under the door with the Moogle poster
- Here by the dumpsters head right to find another treasure chest (Power Wristguards) These are said to increase strength by 5%
- Now head up the ladders and hop over the rooftop
- As you climb down the ladders on the other side Yuffie will spot that strange robed guy being attacked by monsters and will of course want to help
- Head up the ladders by the railings and on the way up Yuffie will mention that the crane in the middle of the area will do the trick, keep climbing up the next set of ladders
- Once at the very top if you turn and look right you should notice the crane once again and a marker on it too, so go ahead and throw your Boomerang at it. The planks it was holding will now drop giving us a way to cross over to the robed guy. Lets go help him!
- Now once you reach the robed guy you will have to fight a bunch of Wayward Wolf, these guys are incredibly tough if you are on a higher difficulty because they are fast and can do quite a bit of damage too. So just keep your distance until only one of them remain and try to guard them and if you time that correctly you can stun them and get a few hits in
- After the fight the robed guy still doesn’t feel like talking, much anyway. So continue on and smash the nearby boxes in order to recover your MP with a mako shard
- Before going through the fence with the poster head down the other pathway and climb the other ladder
- Once at the top cross over the plank to reach another ladder. Up here you should notice a green Materia, Wind Materia obtained
- Now we can continue through the fence which will take us into a tunnel
- Continue through the tunnel to the very end to obtain 1,000 Gil
- There is nothing much in terms of collectibles for a while now so continue on until you reach the bridge, the boxes here contain a few Hi-Potions
- You can now cross the bridge to once again find the robed guy, is he stalking us now? I think it is the same person, is it not? Also, who is Jenova? hmmm.. Anyway there is only the one way to go now and that is through the gate, doing so will trigger a scene
- We will now be at the Scrap Boulevard, this area should be very reminiscent for those who played the base game, which I hope is everyone reading this as the game does state that this DLC will contain spoilers.
- If you head right at the fork here you will come across some boxes, that when smashed, will contain a Hi-Potion
- Now if we double back and take the left route we can find a small cave that we can enter, here we will find another pink Materia. MP Up Materia obtained
- Continuing on we will now reach a gate that we can open leading to a town known as Sector 7 – Slums
- Continue on along the path to trigger a scene involving the Shinra News and Scarlet and then we will meet Zhijie
- Follow Zhijie who will take you to the Avalanche Base
- Head downstairs to meet the rest of the crew; Billy Bob, Polk and Nayo.
- After the scene make sure to grab the Boomerang from the chest behind you and then talk to your new friends Billy Bob, Polk and Nayo. You will need to speak to all 3 of them in order to continue
- Speaking to Polk will introduce you to the minigame of Fort Condor, where you basically have to defend your towers against the enemy invasion and deploy troops to help defend. If you win the minigame you will be rewarded with a Sentry Gun Prototype (Defence) and a Condor Coin
- As for Billy Bob he will mention a guy named Chadley who collects research data and allows Yuffie to fight particular enemies in a virtual world
- Nayo will mention something about Happy Turtle and turtle flyers, hmm interesting..
- Anyway once you are done here we can now leave the building.
- Once you exit the building you should notice a guy dancing about whilst holding a sign board, this is Old Snapper that Nayo mentioned
- Speak to him to know more about these turtle flyers, apparently there is a total of 6 to be found and collected. You can find a complete guide to locating them all here
- Moving on if you continue along the path to the left you should notice a large building, this building belongs to a character named Marle
- If you head upstairs to this building you will trigger a scene involving a dog that you need to avoid being detected by, just use the nearby boxes for cover
- Head up the ladders next to Marle in order to find a Chakra Materia
- Then from here head right to find Chadley that Billy Bob mentioned earlier
- Chadley will allow us to fight a summon known as Ramuh, defeating him will allow us to then summon Ramuh during battle. However, he is a rather tough foe at this stage of the game so feel free to come back later
- Head to the Seventh Heaven bar, sadly we cannot gain access to the building right now and in our attempts to do so we just get knocked back by some strange gust of some kind. So instead head left from here to find a small tunnel
- In this tunnel you will spot a cat with a turtle flyer, if you haven’t already, follow that cat to an area full of cats that all seem to enjoy flyers some are even playing tug of war with a flyer hmm..
- Anyway head to the very back of the area to find a chest containing 2 Hi-Potions behind the oil drums
- Then head right from here to find Kyrie, she is close to Marle’s building, and just behind her is a small tunnel that you can crawl through, do so.
- Here you will notice a group of school kids being told a story about the dog Stamp
- By the ladders in this area there will be an Orb of Warding Materia
- When you are done exploring the area head back to the Avalanche Base to trigger a scene involving our new companion, Sonon
- Sonon will now be joining us in our adventures, though you cannot control him you can issue him orders through the use of the L2 and R2 buttons
- Ignoring Nayo for now leave the Avalanche Base and head left continue along the path
- Then at the next fork turn right to meet with Wedge and his cute little fleabags. Next to Wedge is a chest containing a Riot Trooper Barracks (Defence)
- If you feel like speaking to the rest of the nostalgic gang then you can find Jessie outside of the Seventh Heaven bar if you haven’t already.
- Now that we have Sonon with us feel free to explore the Abandoned Talagger Factory for some breakable boxes containing Antidotes and Phoenix Downs
- You can also find the First Strike Materia here too should you want to collect it
- If not then feel free to just continue the story by talking to Nayo who is waiting just outside the Avalanche Base
- Continue to follow Nayo and you will eventually end up having to fight a bunch of Corneo Lackeys. These guys are weak to Fire attacks so make sure to use any Fire Materia that you may have equipped alongside Yuffie’s Fire Ninjitsu. Hitting an enemy with a weakness will award you with the Weakened Resolve trophy achievement
- After the following scene and after you have been given your new ID Cards retrace your steps back to the Seventh Heaven bar area, you can use your Boomerang to smash the wall down and give yourself a bit of a shortcut
- However, we will then get stopped by a Pigeon with a message from Zhijie, continue on by following Nayo once again.
- Turns out Zhijie is in trouble with the local Shinra Soldiers, we will now have to chase them down. So continue on along the path to reach the train station
- Head to the station platform and there should be a gate to the right, head through it
- Here you can find a chest containing a Indurate Staff
- Continue on to trigger another scene and Zhijie will once again escape the Shinra Soldiers, follow them down the pole. We will now be in the Shipping Facility
- Head downstairs, there is nothing to really be concerned about right now as the path is rather linear
- However, when you arrive at the moving conveyor turn your attention to the platform across from you and you should notice a switch that you can throw your Boomerang at, do so.
- Now we can cross the conveyor belt
- Ignore the poles for now and instead head downstairs to find a treasure chest containing a Sweeper (Ranged)
- Return back to the poles and ride them up for a scene and we will end up fighting the Shinra Soldiers. They tend to be weak to Fire
- Hmm we have found another conveyor belt and one in which we need to cross but how? For now head down the ladder to find a bunch of Lesser Drakes and a Prayer Materia
- Going back up again next to the ladders you just ascended down look to the platform across from you
- You should notice the moving conveyor belt and just next to it is a switch, use your Boomerang to stop it from moving and allowing you to proceed
- Now follow the conveyor belt to a set of poles, lets climb on up since there is nothing else here
- Oh boy another conveyor belt, this time we can ride it. So get into the cart and lets go for a ride!
- When you get off you will notice the Shinra Soldiers are still chasing Zhijie
- Well that didn’t exactly go to plan did it, oh well continue on by hopping over the debris
- Continue on and fight the enemies here before then taking a ride up the nearby pole, I feel like a firefighter with all of these poles
- At the top of the pole there will be a chest containing a Steel Reaper
- Now take a ride along the wall and we will bump into the Shinra goons once again, defeat them and remember Fire is your best friend here
- After the fight be sure to flip the nearby switch in order to stop the conveyor belt
- Now that we have successfully stopped the conveyor belt from moving, head across it and up the next set of stairs
- Here run along the wall once again and you will have to climb this one as it will stop at a dead end. So continue climbing the wall run until you reach the next platform
- Nothing much here so continue on by hitting the nearby switch, the machine with a 3 on it hehe
- Then do the same with the switch machine on the platform below
- This will then allow us to use the nearby wall run to get across to the other side
- Heading upstairs now, slay the Toxirat that you will come across and then head up the smaller set of steps to reach a chest containing an Assassin Board III
- You will now face off against a Wrath Hound, these guys are tough so watch yourself. They are weak to Ice attacks so make sure to come prepared
- After making dog food out of the Wrath Hound, hit the switch machine here so that we can once again wall run (Remember this switch as we need it again later)
- After wall running to the next platform head up the stairs and remember the switch machine you just hit? Well hit it again, what? I did tell you we would need it again sheesh. From now on this is what we will be doing quite a bit of, wall running and switch slapping
- Continue on and you should bump into some Wayward Wolf, show them the Boomerang!
- If you look at the platform across from you, you should notice a blue materia orb hmm.. wonder how we can get there.. Well you can start off by hitting the switch machine next to it
- Then turn to the left and use the wall run to reach the above platform, Gorger
- On this same platform will be a chest with a turbo ether
- Head back down now to the previous platform and wall run to the other side
- Hit the switch machine next to the materia orb once again and then use the wall run, I did say we would be doing a lot of this right now
- Now whilst on this wall run climb up it to reach a platform above you
- Whilst on this platform go ahead and cast your Boomerang at our new favourite switch
- We will now be able to wall ride and climb to the blue materia orb, finally. Elemental Materia
- After claiming our new precious materia wall ride and climb back up to the previous platform
- Then hit the switch once again so we can climb back down
- Once down guess what! We need to hit the switch once again, you knew that though, right?
- Then use the wall run to climb up to a new platform, don’t worry we can say goodbye to that switch now. Aww I miss it already..
- Ride the nearby pole down and we will now be at the Waste Disposal Plant
- Anyway keep following the linear path, as there is nothing here of real interest, and you will then trigger a scene
- You will now be fighting a Levrikon. Thankfully this guy has several weaknesses that you can exploit including Fire and Ice
- After the fight head up the nearby ladder and at the end of the walkway you will come across a large breakable crate, inside will be a letter from Zhijie
- The letter will read the following; Conveyor belt passes through storage. Break containers with shuriken, screw over Shinra. Get to it!
- We will now have to ride a conveyor belt once again. However, this time we will activate a small mini game where you will have to break the boxes that are on the sides. I don’t think you get anything for breaking them as I have tried multiple times and got nothing so I don’t think it is important to break them in all honesty. Can be quite fun I guess and something to do as it is a bit of a long ride across the conveyor belt, you also get a score at the end, again though the score seems to be meaningless.
- Anyway ride the conveoy belt to the other side
- Continue along the path or conveyor belt as we will end up going on another shortly after the last one. This conveyor belt seems to lead to a dead end, or does it?
- If you head left at the end of the conveyor you should notice a pink materia ball, Magic Up Materia
- Now hop back onto the conveyor and go the other way this time
- Use the wall ride and climb up and right onto the next platform
- Keep following the path here to reach a nice rest room, so save and rest up as its boss time! Oh and don’t forget to collect the Lightning Materia
- When you are done continue on and head North and a scene will trigger involving Zhijie.
- Can I just say how amazing the whole Yuffie transformation is? It seriously hits me in the nostalgic feels ha!
- Anyway it is boss time! We will be fighting a giant Gigantipede, sadly despite being a robotic type monster it doesn’t seem to be weak to electricity.
- However, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have a weakness because thankfully it does. The weakness on this guy is the head so make so to aim your attacks there. The boss is also resistant to Fire, Ice and Wind so avoid using any of those attacks.
- During the fight the Gigantipede will spawn little friends known as Containment Drone, these are weak to electricity.
- After the fight Zhijie will now give you your Shinra employee ID
- When you return back to the Sector 7 Slums you will find out that the Shinra Soldiers have arrived, not good. Since there is nothing else to do here lets book it and head to the train
- This concludes Chapter 1 – Wutai’s Finest
