Hogwarts Legacy – Grand Staircase (Door Puzzle)

Game Guides

There are many door puzzles that can be found within Hogwarts Legacy. These door puzzles often have numbered diagrams on them, and once unlocked, they often hold treasure chests all waiting to be inspected and claimed.

Each of these locked doors all generally follow the same rule in order to unlock them. This rule usually sees us having to work out what each icon or picture that resides around the door actually represent. From there we then need to determine how to make the target number that is on the diagram that is printed on the door.

Once we have successfully managed to work all of that out we can then locate the dice on the wall that is connected to the door. These dice can be rolled and flipped around, allowing you to choose the correct one that is required to unlock the door.

(Note: The pictures that are located around the door are replacement for numbers. However, keep in mind that these numbers go in a clockwise direction. Also these numbers start from 0)

This specific door puzzle is located within the Grand Staircase of the Hogwarts Castle. It requires us to reach the main target numbers of both 6 and 11

So here we have two diagrams etched on to the locked door. The first diagram indicates a target number of 6, whilst the second one requires us to reach the number 11.

The top diagram also gives us a hint that one of the numbers is a ‘4’, meaning we need to discover what the other two numbers are. Whatever those numbers are will, altogether, get us to the number 6. The target number

The first dice that I’ll be focusing on has us reaching the target number of 11. In order to work it out we need to look at the pictures that are around the door. Remember these pictures replace numbers and the first one starts at the number 0. This should be a huge clue as to what the first dice should indicate.

Roll The Dice 3 Times

The answer to the door puzzle is 3. So we need to roll the dice downstairs a total of 3 times. The reasoning behind this is because it represents a ‘spider type creature’ on the door and if you number the first picture as a 0, it means that this ‘spider’ is a 5. As we already have the numbers 5 and 1, this means our maths relates to 5 + 1 + 5 = 11

As for the other diagram, the one that requires us to reach the main target of 6. The same method to working it out applies and the dice for this one resides next to the door. We already have the number ‘4’. The other one is a picture of some kind of deer.

Again going clockwise around the door we can figure out that the deer represents the number 2. Since the first picture represents a 0.

Roll The Dice Once

Since we already have the number ‘4’ already on the door and the picture of a deer, which we now know represents the number ‘2’. This already gives us the answer ‘6’. This is because 4 + 2 = 6. So we need to make the number ‘0’ as we do not need to add anything to the equation. The first picture is a 0, so roll this dice once.

After rolling both of the dice on the wall the door should then be unlocked and open. Inside there are two treasure chests. One that contains an Noblesse Coat and the other has Lights
