One of the puzzles in Alone in the Dark 2024 is Grace’s drawing puzzle, which is rather easy to solve. But it takes time to find the missing piece you need. I’ll teach you how to find the piece so you can solve the puzzle and discover the story behind Detective Edward Carnby.

After entering the hallway with Grace and Cassandra’s room in Chapter 4, you’ll enter a short cut scene with MacCarfey and Grace. When it ends, grab the key dropped by MacCarfey and enter Grace’s room. You’ll find a series of drawings on the floor.
In order to solve this puzzle, you first need to find the missing drawing.
How to Find Grace’s Missing Drawing in Alone in the Dark (2024)
In order to find Grace’s drawings, you’ll need to grab two things.
- The 1st Floor Hall Key
- MacCarfey’s Treasure Map
The 1st Floor Hall Key can be picked up off of the floor after the cutscene with MacCarfey and Grace.
MacCarfey’s Treasure Map is in Dr. Gray’s Office. It is under a few other items on the table with a globe.
With these in your inventory, head downstairs and unlock the hallway door. You will see Dark Man, but he won’t harm you. Instead, he has opened the door to the Empty Room so that you can go inside. While you’re here, this is a great time to get the Jangling Shaker Lagniappe.
In the Empty Room, look at the peeling wall first.
Peel back three parts of the wallpaper to reveal a clue for the safe. The clue is in red writing and reads “#196XXX-LA”.
Open your inventory and look at your license.
Your license number reads “#196692-LA”. Based on the hint beneath the wallpaper, the code for the safe will be “692”. Enter this into the safe to get a Picayune and a note. Remember to enter the first number counterclockwise, the second number clockwise, and the third number counterclockwise.
You will also get a note from MacCarfey telling you to look in his room for the remaining piece of the puzzle.
In MacCarfey’s room, open up MacCarfey’s Treasure Map.
This will lead you to the vent in the back right corner of MacCarfey’s room.
Use the Picayune to open the vent and get the Missing Picture.
Now return to Grace’s room to solve the drawing puzzle.
Solving the Drawing Puzzle in Alone in the Dark (2024)
In Grace’s room, place the Missing Picture in the empty spot on the floor.
To complete the puzzle, all you need to do is move and rotate the images so that they connect properly to the rot in the center.
