The quest to clear the Elixir Well is given to you by Oswald Anders, the Blacksmith who has settled at your base in Enshrouded.

To successfully complete this quest, you’ll need to follow a series of steps and overcome various challenges along the way. Let’s dive into the details of each step.
How to Reach the Elixir Well
Before embarking on your journey to clear the Elixir Well, it’s important to gather some essential materials and prepare yourself for the challenges ahead. Here are the items you should bring:
- Ranged Weapon
- Axe
- Explosive Powder Balls
- Bandages
- Elixirs
- HP Potions
- Food (water, cooked meat, and berries)
- Armor (consider crafting the Fur Armor set with Oswald)
Once you’re equipped with the necessary items, it’s time to set out towards the Elixir Well. The well is located in a sizable Shrouded area north of your base. To reach it quickly, you can glide down from the cliffs. It’s recommended to have a Glider for easier traversal through the Shroud.
As you approach the Elixir Well, you’ll encounter enemies guarding the stairs that lead to the highest point of the area. Utilize the terrain to your advantage, using ruined fortifications to block lines of sight and trap enemies in one-on-one combat. If you find yourself overwhelmed, you can activate the Return Beacon at the top of the stairs for a quick escape and respawn.
Once you’ve dealt with the enemies, proceed towards the pit behind the Return Beacon and climb down the grate. From there, jump onto the nearby stairs and continue descending until you reach a large chamber. During your descent, you’ll catch glimpses of the Shroud Root in the distance, which serves as your ultimate objective.
HOW TO ENTER THE ELIXIR WELL
Upon reaching the bottom of the stairs, you’ll encounter the formidable Fell Thunderbrute, a powerful enemy determined to stop you from reaching the Shroud Root. Defeating the Fell Thunderbrute is crucial to progress further into the chamber where the Shroud Root is located.
To defeat the Fell Thunderbrute, you can employ various strategies. If you have explosive powder balls, throwing two or three at the brute will deal significant damage. Alternatively, you can use a ranged weapon to attack the Thunderbrute while running and dodging its attacks. Aim for its weak spots to maximize your damage output. It’s important to keep your health high by utilizing bandages, elixirs, and HP potions.
Once you’ve successfully defeated the Fell Thunderbrute, it’s time to focus on your main objective: destroying the Shroud Root.
DESTROY THE SHROUD ROOT
With the Fell Thunderbrute out of the way, you can now turn your attention to the Shroud Root. The Shroud Root is located in the chamber, and destroying it will cause the Shroud in the area to vanish.
To destroy the Shroud Root, equip your axe and unleash powerful strikes upon it. The Felling Axe is particularly effective for this task, as it deals maximum damage. Time is of the essence, as your Shroud timer is likely running low. Destroy the Shroud Root as quickly as possible to clear the Shroud in your immediate area.
Once the Shroud Root is destroyed, you’ve successfully cleared the Elixir Well.
ELIXIR WELL REWARDS
Clearing the Elixir Well comes with its own set of rewards. Upon destroying the Shroud Root, you’ll receive valuable items such as a Shroud Core, Fell Thunderbrute Head, Runes, and the epic melee weapon Tainted Axe. In addition to the loot, you’ll also earn experience points and a new Skill Point.
After clearing the Elixir Well, it’s time to return to your camp and speak with Oswald. He will provide you with the next quest, The Ancient Spires
