Greedfall : A Name For A Family (Captain Vasco Side Quest) Guide

Game Guides

When speaking to Vasco he will tell you of his upbringing and that he too was sold off to the Nauts by his family, this is similar to the Cabin Boy hence why I said you may be required to complete that before you can trigger this.

Thankfully all side and main story quests are marked rather well and you should be able to follow the quest easily enough, simply head to your quest logbook and mark it so that you are following that said quest.

Anyway your next goal is to head for the Port area, which will be marked if you did what I just said above.

In Greedfall each companion character has their own unique side quest, however they are not exactly very well pointed out and require you to talk to them in order to trigger it.

This quest was triggered when I first entered New Serena and spoke to Vasco rather randomly. It may also occur outside of New Serena but I’m unsure so don’t hold me to that ha!

It was quite a straightforward quest that did not require leaving New Serena at all. Anyway here is a quick guide on how to complete it.

Also, another side note is that you may be required to rescue the Cabin Boy whilst your in Serena (the starting area) as Vasco does speak briefly of him in this quest and I did indeed complete that task before activating this one.

Here Vasco will tell you about some girls appearing here during the nightfall and that he doesn’t want any bloodshed and thus you will be tasked on making some Sleeping Pills to hopefully keep things from turning violent.

To acquire the Sleeping Pills is quite easy, simply head to nearby Merchant and he will sell some to you for 16 coins.

You will now be tasked on going to the Bar (Coin Tavern), the man you seek in at the bottom level down the stairs (if you have not been here before you will need to pay 25 coins to gain access)

Here you will need to speak to the Guard in order to make him slip the Sleeping Pills into the Guards drink, you can either use your conversational skills if its high enough or try to convince him by other methods. Once he agrees you can then return to the area where you first discovered about needing the Sleeping Pills and wait for nightfall.

Now to make things easier you may need the Nauts outfit to blend in more easier and to increase your chances of avoiding bloodshed.
In order to get the outfit you can either view the video below or for a step by step guide go here (How to get the Nauts outfit)

Okay now you have the outfit, or not depending on how you want to handle the next section. Either way you will want to navigate your way around to the back of the area (it will be marked on the map).
Here you will find a door but it is locked, thus use your skills to open it or if that is insufficient then you will find the key near you, head right from the door and to the box near the fence the game will have a ‘Pick Up’ symbol and this will be the key for the door.

Anyway now you should be able to gain entry into the building, what you want is upstairs so navigate your way up the stairs. The chest containing the file you want is in the room at the very back.

After acquiring the correct file you can then report back to Vasco to complete the quest and gain respect from the best character in the game!

If you are aiming to get the Love and the Sea (i.e trying to get the relationship with Vasco) trophy achievement then refer to this guide here: Love and the Sea
