Shadow From The Past is one of the many optional side quests that you can complete within Horizon Forbidden West.
This side quest involves Trying to find evidence for Conover
GO TO THE CLEARING
- SIDE QUEST: Shadow From The Past
- LOCATION: Barren Light
- QUEST GIVER: Conover
- REWARDS: 2 Skill Points, 1750 XP
- GUIDE:
- Speak with the prisoner Conover to learn about an incident that he has now been sentenced for. Apparently the Eclipse have returned.
- Our next destination is over at the Clearing, east of Barren Light.
- When you get near the Clearing you will notice some blood on the ground, examine it. Aloy will now confirm that this blood came from the guard that Conover killed.
- Activate Focus mode and you will then spot some footprints on the ground, they are from the Carja search party.
SEARCH FOR TRACKS
- Keep following the purple tracks and you will find more clues
- Eventually Aloy will lose the trail due to the nearby hostile machines, so either destroy these machines or sneak past them. Your main destination is to continue north and head up the hill
- As you head up the hill you will encounter the body of a machine, examine it. Aloy should now be able to pick up the trail once again, so enter Focus mode and continue on.
FOLLOW THE TRAIL OF BLOOD
- From the body of the machine, continue follow the clues and the trail of blood. You will end up crossing a bridge. Just under this bridge there will be a bunch of bandages.
- Continue using Focus mode and following the tracks. The trail will lead up a hill.
- Following the trail, it will eventually end at a cave. Climb up and enter the cave.
INVESTIGATE THE CAVE
- Whilst exploring the cave you will hear the Eclipse Cultists in the background. Explore further to reveal a scene.
- You will then have to fight the Eclipse.
KILL THE ECLIPSE
- Defeat the Eclipse and head further inside the cave.
SEARCH THE HIDEOUT FOR RAYAD’S CORPSE
- After eliminating yet more Eclipse our next task is to find Rayad’s corpse. It isn’t far away, just look for a torch and barrels. Examine the body for a scene.
- After the scene examine Rayad’s body once again in order to get his mask. This is key evidence for Conover.
- Return to Conover over in Barren Light
