The quest “The Inkeeper’s Husband” can be obtained by players shortly after entering Sacrament. While not a main story quest in No Rest for the Wicked, it brings an NPC named Gordon into Sacrament that sells ingredients for food. Since certain ingredients, like Artemisia, are used in lots of basic recipes, his presence is a must. I’ll teach you how to get and complete the quest in order to get Gordon in the city.

To get the quest, you’ll need to head to the part of Sacrament right of the main entrance. There you’ll meet Caroline, the owner of the inn, next to a few destroyed buildings. She’ll complain about the state of the inn and the disappearance of her husband Gordon after he went to the sea. She’ll request that you go after him, giving you the quest.

How to Find the Inkeeper’s Husband

To find Caroline’s husband, you’ll need to head for the Shallows. Exit the city from the main entrance and head to the west.

You could choose to travel through Mariner’s Keep to reach the shores. However, since Mariner’s Keep is full of enemies, the fastest way is by taking the ladder next to the bridge.

From here, jump down into the water.

Move west as if heading to the sewers for Of Rats and Raiders. Continue going west past the entrance of the sewers until you reach land.

This area will have three Risen soldiers, including a heavy axe user that throws fire, one with a spear and shield, and a crossbow shooter. Be especially cautious of the fire user because he can throw two fire bombs in a row.

Continue walking towards the area where the captain of the ship spoke his last words to you in the Prologue. There will be a Risen archer and a Risen soldier with a large axe defending the bridge leading toward the fort. There will also be an archer on a platform on the hill on the right. This fight is especially easy if you let the archer on the ground shoot the axe user while you fight.

Continue traveling west, past the campfire and toward a broken-down tower. You’ll hear a man calling for help who says he’s stuck on an old bridge.

Enter the tower through a gap in its left side and save at the Whisper.

Climb two ladders to reach the top of the tower. Do a running jump to the next platform to find Gordon.

He’ll ask you to find a way for him to leave. The body near him will hold the “West Bridge Key”, which you need to grab.

Finding a Way for Gordon to Leave

You must enter Mariner’s Keep to find a way out for Gordon. The best way is by walking through their front door. There will be a fire-thrower on a ledge near the entrance, plus two swordsman. You’ll need to go up the main stairs, where you’ll run into a spearman with a shield.

After defeating all of these enemies, continue walking until you see the blazing bonfire made up of carriage parts. Go up the set of stairs to the left of this fire.

This area holds a second Whisper to save at. Afterward, climb the ladder in the room to the left of the Whisper.

Carefully balance on the planks to reach the area on the left side.

This area has a fire-thrower and a crossbow shooter to beat. After, use the West Bridge Key to unlock the door at the top of the stairs. While opening it, a Risen soldier with a shield will knock you back to start a fight. Defeat him and enter the door.

In this area, head directly west. The first enemy you’ll fight is an archer.

The next section has a Risen soldier with a sword and another with a giant hammer.

Once you’ve defeated these enemies, hold the interact button on the pole at the edge of the room. Pull it to open the gate.

After entering the gate, head left.

There will be a door at the end of the hall for you to enter.

Walk straight across the bridge to enter the area directly above Gordon.
