Mafia Definitive Edition – All 20 Dime Detective Magazine Locations (Lending Library) Guide

Mafia: Definitive Edition has many different collectibles that you can try and find, this includes a vast range of Pulp Magazines

Getting and collecting these Pulp Magazines will net you two different trophy achievements, one of which is Pulp Fiction and the other is Lending Library

Now keep in mind that there is a total of 80 different magazines that you can try and find, none of which are truly missable too. If however, you do find yourself missing one of them then you are free to replay a mission via the mission select option which becomes available after completing the story

For this specific page we will be covering all of the Dime Detective magazines, which counts towards 20 of the 80 collectibles needed for the Lending Library trophy achievement

In order to get the full 80 collectible magazines and thus the Lending Library trophy achievement, you will also need to collect all of the hidden magazines that feature in the following categories:

Dime Detective, Black Mask, Super Science and Terror Tales

Okay lets begin..

  • #1 – DEATH WEARS RED HEELS (DIME DETECTIVE)
  • CHAPTER AVAILABLE: Chapter 3 – Molotov Party

For this one you will need to head to Don Salieri’s Bar and if you traverse and make your way around his room, you should be able to spot this magazine sitting on the table

  • #2 – HEYSEED HOMICIDE – DIME DETECTIVE
  • CHAPTER AVAILABLE: Chapter 4 – Ordinary Routine

During Chapter 4 – Ordinary Routine you will be tasked with having to go to the Motel, so go ahead and head there.

Then when you finally arrive make your way around the right side of the building.

You should be able to find the next magazine sitting on top of the pile of wooden planks just before reaching the back garden.

  • #3 – DEATH BLOWS OUT OF CANDLES – DIME DETECTIVE
  • CHAPTER AVAILABLE: Chapter 5 – Fair Play

During this mission you will be tasked with having to Follow a Guard, whilst following him you will eventually be taken to a set of Garages all of which are numbered.

When you find yourself at this said set of Garages, ignore the guard for a minute and instead head down the rather dark section that sit opposite the numbered Garages (as seen above)

You may now receive a warning that you are leaving your objective and be given a short period of time in order to return to that said objective, ignore this BUT I recommend that you do indeed hurry to find this magazine, don’t be a slouch 😛

You should be able to find this next magazine at the end of these white coloured Garages that I told you to run down, ignore any forks in the path between these and just head straight.

Whilst heading straight keep an eye on the right side after you ignore the folk in the path here, as the collectible should be sat here on an outhouse

  • #4 – HAPPY MURDER TO YOU! – DIME DETECTIVE
  • CHAPTER AVAILABLE: Chapter 7 – Better Get Used To It

For this mission you will be tasked with having to follow Paulie to Biff’s Pawn Shop, it will be located in Chinatown.

After a short scene involving a woman speaking Cantonese, you will then be able to follow her to the back room.

However, don’t follow her too far as you will be able to spot the magazine sitting on the white covered up sofa just BEFORE the backroom

  • #5 – MEXICAN SLAYRIDE – DIME DETECTIVE
  • CHAPTER AVAILABLE: Chapter 8 – The Saint and the Sinner

In this particular mission you should find yourself in a rather fancy looking building in order to send a message from Don Salieri, which is located Downtown

Ignore the stairs as where we want to be is on the actual ground floor, instead head past the reception desk and into the room next to it (It should be marked as Employees Only)

Then head through this room and enter the next door beside the Think Before You Act-cident! poster.

In this next area you will need to sneakily head down the corridor where you may see someone working, feel free to take him out using a stealth approach to make sure you don’t screw this segment up and thus to be on the safe side. For reference this worker is actually named Ruth.

It is also in here where you should be able to find the next collectible too, sitting on the desk next to the one Ruth used.

  • #6 – THE LADY’S FROM HADES – DIME DETECTIVE
  • CHAPTER AVAILABLE: Chapter 8 – The Saint and the Sinner

For this section we again want to be on Chapter 8 – The Saint and the Sinner, however the objective this time needs to be Escape over the Rooftops. The location will be St Michael’s Church

Explore the rooftops until you see a sign reading CASTILLE SAVINGS & LOAN in the background, this is in order to know you are indeed in the correct location.

Okay time for a small bit of platforming, you will now want to head on over the wall here

Once you have hopped over the wall you should instantly spot a small table with chairs, the next magazine sits on top of this said table.

  • #7 – LIVE AND LET DIE – DIME DETECTIVE
  • CHAPTER AVAILABLE: Chapter 8 – The Saint and the Sinner

Once again on Chapter 8 – The Saint and the Sinner, this time we will be required to (Spoiler: Kill Johnny) of which the fight will take place inside St. Michael’s Church

In order to find the magazine you will need to be at the far back (right side) set of seats, near the picture of the holy one (Jesus) which sits on a nearby table.

The next magazine can be found sitting on top of the table here

  • #8 – WEATHER FAIR TRACK BLOODY – DIME MAGAZINE
  • CHAPTER AVAILABLE: Chapter 9 – A Trip To The Country

We will now need to be on Chapter 9 – A Trip to the Country and our current objective is to Find Sam and our current location should be at the area near the Durham Pond which is in the Jayhawk Bluff region

Here you should find a barn house that you can enter, do so.

Whilst in the barn house make your way to the back section where you can enter another section of this said barn house, the next magazine can be found here by the entrance/exit doorway

  • #9 – DEATH GIVES A PERMANENT WAVE – DIME DETECTIVE
  • CHAPTER AVAILABLE: Chapter 10 – Omerta

This next one is also available on Free Roam, however it can also be found during Chapter 10 – Omerta too.

Whilst the objective is set to Get to Bill’s Pawn Shop, instead of following the game and for the purpose of this guide you should head to Little Italy

Whilst in Little Italy you should hopefully find a small building (as seen above), remember to use your map if need be.

The next collectible magazine can be found on top of the wooden box here

  • #10 – YOU’RE THE CRIME IN MY COFFEE – DIME DETECTIVE
  • CHAPTER AVAILABLE: Chapter 11 – Visiting Rich People

For this next one we will want to be on Chapter 11 – Visiting Rich People, the objective should be at Find the Prosecutor’s Safe and your location should be at Beech Hill

Whilst inside the building here you will need to head into the living room area with the Piano.

Then enter through the next door on the right side of the room, this will lead you to a room with paintings, a sofa, fireplace and most importantly that much needed magazine too!

The magazine can be found on the old fashioned trolley next to the bookshelf by the door.

  • #11 – POST-MORTEM AT PIMLICO – DIME DETECTIVE
  • CHAPTER AVAILABLE: Chapter 12: Great Deal

This next one can be found during Chapter 12 – Great Deal and whilst the objective has you in need of talking to Sam. In order to find the magazine however, you will need to be in a multistorey car park area over at Central Island

Head through the nearby door here in this said multistorey car park as it is here where you will be able to find the next collectible. It is sitting on the table in this very room.

  • #12 – PLEASE PASS THE POISON – DIME DETECTIVE
  • CHAPTER AVAILABLE: Chapter 14 – Happy Birthday

Here we find ourselves on Chapter 14 – Happy Birthday, in the heart of the Central Island St. Peter’s Docks.

In order to find the next collectible you will need to get through the hustle and bustle of the crowds and head to the left side of the docks, the collectible is sitting on the table by the building with stairs to the second floor.

However, ignore those second floor stairs as the actual magazine can only be obtained by climbing up the small set of steps on the ground floor just under those other stairs.

  • #13 – YOU CAN DIE ANY DAY – DIME DETECTIVE
  • CHAPTER AVAILABLE: Chapter 14 – Happy Birthday

We now find ourselves aboard the ship whilst still on the Chapter 14 – Happy Birthday mission. Our objective has most likely now changed to having to find a vantage point, it’s also very dark too.

Whilst out on deck simply head to the left side of this said ship in order to find a collection of barrels.

The next collectible will be sat on top of these said barrels over in the corner of the upper deck section of the ship.

  • #14 – A HORSE OF ANOTHER KILLER – DIME DETECTIVE
  • CHAPTER AVAILABLE: Chapter 15 – You Lucky…

Another mission now, for this one we need to be on Chapter 15 – You Lucky.. our objective is of course different too, this time we can’t let Sergio escape.

We will also be in another location, this location will be found in between both Downtown and Oakwood

The magazine can be found on the table inside this restaurant just to the right of the actual door.

  • #15 – TIN-PAN ALIBI – DIME DETECTIVE
  • CHAPTER AVAILABLE: Chapter 16: Creme De La Creme

For this one we will now want to be on Chapter 16 – Creme De La Creme with our objective changed to Don’t let Morello escape. If we have all of that correct then you should find yourself at the LH International Airport

The next collectible can be found here on the wooden table near the doorway, sort of in the middle on the room and kind of difficult to actually miss.

  • #16 – THE CORPSE THAT WASN’T THERE – DIME DETECTIVE
  • CHAPTER AVAILABLE: Chapter 17 – Election Campaign

Heading onto Chapter 17 – Election Campaign now and to our objective of Follow the Hobo Sign To The Guard Tower, you should now find yourself at the Central Island State Prison

Whilst in the prisons head to the second floor set of cells in order to find the actual Cell Lever, once you have successfully found it you will then want to pull this said lever this will of course open all of the cell doors.

You should be able to find the next magazine hiding out in the cell with the brown coloured chair outside of it.

  • #17 – SEALED WITH A KRIS – DIME DETECTIVE
  • CHAPTER AVAILABLE: Chapter 17 – Election Campaign

Staying on Chapter 17 – Election Campaign but moving on enough until you reach the Find the Guard Tower objective, you should once again find yourself in the State Prison but this time on the lower levels and within the prison corridors.

Outside of the room we actually want to be in will be a DANGER. KEEP OFF sign, it should lead us to a type of storage room (quite a dark one too at that)

Anyway head to the opposite end of this said room and you should find a table to the left, the next collectible is sat on this very table.

  • #18 – FEATHER YOUR COFFIN – DIME DETECTIVE
  • CHAPTER AVAILABLE: Chapter 18 – Just For Relaxation

Moving onto Chapter 18 – Just For Relaxation and to the objective Get Into The Imports Building, go ahead and enter that very building. Your objective will then change to Search For The Cigar Shipment.

You will know if you are in the correct location as there should be a letter to Howie about a Cigar crate on a nearby table alongside a set of stairs which leads to the second floor.

Using these nearby stairs head on up to the second floor, whilst up here you will want to access the door on the opposite side of this area. The magazine can be found inside this room on the actual computer table / desk

  • #19 – LET THE SKELETONS RATTLE – DIME DETECTIVE
  • CHAPTER AVAILABLE: Chapter 19 – Moonlighting

Rolling onto Chapter 19 – Moonlighting and with our current objective having switched to Get Key From The Manager, we should find ourselves at the Grand Imperial Bank

Inside this Imperial Bank we will want to head on up to the second floor and whilst on this said floor we will want to be on the building’s right side.

The room we want to actually be in is located on the second floor by a small set of stairs.

The next magazine should be sitting on the desk in this very room.

  • #20 – WATCH ME KILL YOU! – DIME DETECTIVE
  • CHAPTER AVAILABLE: Chapter 20 – The Death Of Art

Heading on to Chapter 20 – The Death Of Art and having our objective change to Meet Paulie at his apartment, we should now find ourselves at the Oakwood Church (or at least in the vicinity anyway)

Heading through the hallway and into the kitchen we should be able to see a door on our right and just beyond that is the rather small living room. (By the way don’t access the door on the right that I just mentioned, sorry for any confusion. The living room doesn’t actually require any doors as it is connected to the actual kitchen)

The final Dime Detective magazine can be found on the table in the living room
