The Esper system sits at the core of Neverness to Everness’ combat, and understanding how it works can often decide the outcome of a fight.
Esper in NTE is essentially the elemental system. Each character in the game belongs to one of six Esper Types, and when they cast attacks, they can trigger reactions to unleash additional battle effects.
Here’s how the Neverness to Everness Esper system works and how to use it to your advantage.
Six NTE Esper Types and how they work
Neverness to Everness has six Esper Types, and here’s what they are.

- Lakshana
- Cosmos
- Anima
- Incantation
- Chaos
- Psyche
When a character in Neverness to Everness attacks, they fill up the Esper Meter. This meter is located beside each character’s HP bar. Different attacks fill the meter at varying speeds, with normal attacks accumulating less and parries instantly filling it up.
Once the meter is full, you can activate an Esper Ability by switching to another appropriate character, assuming it meets the requirements. This triggers a special effect depending on the Esper types that are combined.
Esper Cycle in Neverness to Everness
Elements do react with one another, but there are restrictions. The Esper system essentially revolves around the Esper Cycle, which places Lakshana, Cosmos, Anima, Incantation, Chaos, and Psyche in a fixed order.
To trigger a reaction, two or three adjacent elements in the cycle must interact. For example, Lakshana and Cosmos. Elements that are not adjacent, such as Lakshana and Chaos, cannot react.

Duo Cycle
| Esper | Esper | Reaction |
|---|---|---|
| Lakshana | Cosmos | Remora |
| Cosmos | Anima | Blossom |
| Anima | Incantation | Hexed |
| Incantation | Chaos | Scorch |
| Chaos | Psyche | Nova |
| Psyche | Lakshana | Stain |

- Remora: Slows all enemy actions for five sections.
- Blossom: Vita Pistil appears, blossoming into 5 Vita Buds. Every two seconds, Vita Buds will fly towards a target within range, dealing AoE damage.
- Hexed: For 12 seconds, whenever the target takes Anima or Incantation Esper Ability damage, they take additional damage equal to 20% of that damage.
- Scorch: Inflict Scorch on the target for 15 seconds, dealing damage over time.
- Nova: Inflicts Nova on the target for five seconds, then deals burst Mental damage when the duration ends.
- Stain: Psyche and Lakshana Esper Ability damage taken by the target is increased by 20% for 12 seconds.
Trio cycle
| Elements | Reaction |
|---|---|
| Top elements: Lakshana, Cosmos and Anima | Charge |
| Bottom elements: Chaos, Psyche and Incantation | Discord |
- Charge: When a Vita Bud (Blossom) hits an enemy during Remora state, the active character gets an additional 10 Ultimate Energy.
- Discord: When a target is affected by Nova (Chaos + Psyche) and Scorch (Incantation + Chaos), a certain percentage of the target’s Break gauge is depleted.
