Scorn – Should You Spare Or Kill The Creature In Act 1?

Game Guides

Towards the end of Act 1 of Scorn and after we have successfully managed to complete the crane egg puzzle, we will be left with a very big decision to make. Our decision is to determine if we should spare or kill the creature.

As we should know by now this egg that we got from the puzzle will contain a creature, a man of sorts. Ultimately we will be left to determine the creatures fate.

This simple guide will explain the consequences of each option. Allowing you to make the ultimate end decision.

By doing these options we can either unlock the Extraction or Hand in Hand trophy achievement

DECIDING TO KILL THE MAN CREATURE

After we are done solving the crane egg puzzle we will quickly realise that this egg contained a creature inside of it. One in which we can either choose to spare or have killed.

In order to kill this creature we will be able to unlock the Hand In Hand trophy achievement. However before we can actually have the creature killed we will be required to complete various tasks first.

So how do we kill this creature?

In order to be able to kill the creature we will need to make our way over to the switch puzzle. This puzzle can be found by heading up the twisting platform, near the elevator lift.

Now we need to set this switch puzzle correctly so that it results in the creatures fatality and demise. We can do this by setting all of the switches inward. (As seen in the image above – Set To Kill)

Now head down this platform and activate this next mechanism. This will then activate a crane and place the creature into the nearby chair.

Once the creature is all comfortable in its new chair we can then proceed to push it along. Keep pushing it along until it cannot go any further. It will stop at the next mechanism.

Interact with this next mechanism and a giant machine will approach the creature and cause some damage to it. However, it is not yet dead. Don’t you feel bad for choosing this path?

Continue pushing the creature along. Watching it squirm in agony as you do so. Knowing you could have saved it but opted not to. You are very cruel hearted.

Keep pushing the creature further to its now inevitable end. Which will come by yet another mechanism. Interact with this mechanism and it will place the poor defenceless creature into another chair

Wave goodbye as you continue to proceed and watch it move along, unable to do anything about it. Then once you are ready go ahead and finally put the creature to rest by interacting with the other, smaller, mechanism in the room.

Once the creature’s fate has been sealed we will then need to inspect where it was sitting. Here we will be able to collect one of it’s arms. In doing so the Hand in Hand trophy achievement will then pop

We can then use the creature’s arm to unlock the next door.

CHOOSING TO SAVE THE MAN CREATURE

After we are done solving the crane egg puzzle we will quickly realise that this egg contained a creature inside of it. One in which we can either choose to spare or have killed.

In order to save the creature we will be able to unlock the Extraction trophy achievement. However, before we can actually do that there will be some tasks that we will need to complete first.

So how can we save this creature?

In order to be able to save this creature we will first need to head up the twisting platform, to the switch puzzle. This method is a lot like the alternative method, of having to kill the creature. However, as we are trying to save it there will be some minor changes that need to be made.

At the switch puzzle you will mainly want to toggle the switch on both the bottom left and right (As seen in the image above – Set To Save)

After having done that head back down and interact with the mechanism here. This will then move the crane and place the poor creature into a chair. Go ahead and push the creature along.

Just like with the alternative method we will then stop at another mechanism, interact with this one next. A machine will then approach the creature and alarm it a bit but don’t worry it will be okay. Just a bit spooked.

Now proceed to push the creature along even more. Knowing that if it could speak it would be grateful for your decision in saving it.

If you did the alternative method before doing this one you should now notice that we will be heading past the room, in which we go in if we were doing the other method. Thankfully for this poor helpless and defenceless creature we are not.

Continue pushing the creature through the tunnels and to the final mechanism. Though it may be scared, it will soon know and be aware of who its saviour is.

Interact with this next mechanism and a crane will appear and grab hold of the creature, smile as it goes by knowing you probably made the correct decision. Today we saved a life.

Once the creature has been placed on the chair we can then proceed and interact with the other, much smaller, mechanism in the room. A chainsaw will then appear and begin cutting away at the creature. Don’t worry for this chainsaw is merely cutting and getting rid of the creatures egg shaped prison. It is not harming the creature in any way.

Now in order to finish the process we can then interact with the creature in order to free it. It will then struggle to get up and collapse on to the floor. In the process the Extraction trophy achievement will then pop.

Our job is not yet done though. Our final task is to lure the creature over to the machines on the wall. (As seen in the image above). From there we can continue to lure it up the path and to the mechanism to unlock the next door.

If we choose to kill the creature (went down the alternative method) we would simply need to collect the creature’s arm in order to unlock the door). This way has us luring the creature and using it to unlock the door.

Ultimately, though saving the creature might seem like a nice option to choose. It may also be the slowest too. Simply because it can take quite a bit of time to lure the creature to the machine and door at the end.

So once you have the Extraction trophy achievement unlocked saving the creature any more after that might seem more of a burden and a non-beneficial method to choose from.

Though it is your choice if you should either spare or kill the creature.
