Alone in the Dark 2024 has a lot of multi-step puzzles that players can get stuck on if they’re not prepared. In this guide, I’ll go over the Astronomical Clock puzzle. From gathering its pieces to solving the puzzle itself, I’ll help you complete the puzzle with ease.

The Astronomical Clock puzzle is divided into three parts. Firstly, you must find the missing pieces to the clock. Secondly, you need to attach the pieces to the clock in the right order. Lastly, you need to use your Talisman on the clock to move forward.
Broken Clock Plate Piece Locations in Alone in the Dark
Players will need to gather two Broken Plate pieces in order to repair the clock’s plate.
Each piece requires its own puzzles to be solved, which I’ll discuss below.
Broken Plate Piece One
The first Broken Plate piece is found by completing the desk puzzle in Perosi’s room. When the lock on the desk is solved, the drawer can be opened to find the Broken Plate piece.
Broken Plate Piece Two
The second Broken Plate piece is in the well in the garden. To obtain it, you’ll first need to get the bolt cutters by visiting the library. There are a few steps you’ll need to follow here.
- First, use Batiste’s keys to enter the library.
- After talking with Ruth, head through the library’s second door to enter the Small Parlor.
- Attempt to head onto the terrace on the right side of the Small Parlor.
Doing this will trigger another nightmareish scene. During this scene, you can pick up the bolt cutters from a table on the left side of the room.
Using the bolt cutters on the terrace door will return you to reality. From there, walk through the Conservatory’s doors to enter the garden. There will be a short cut scene, after which you can unlock the garden shed with the bolt cutters for a Water Hose.
Head to the well in the left corner of the garden, which contains the second piece of Broken Plate. There will be the end of a water hose in front of it. Interact with the hose to attach the new segment on it and place it into the well.
Afterward, follow the hose’s path into the small alley and turn it on using the pump on the wall.
This will cause the Broken Plate piece to float to the top of the well, allowing it to easily be grabbed.
Attaching the Broken Plate pieces to the Clock Puzzle
With the clock opened, select the broken plate on its right side. Begin by placing the two Broken Plate pieces into the puzzle.
To place the pieces into their proper slots, look at The Commonplace Book in your inventory. The solution for this puzzle is shown on the bottom left sided of the fifth page. Move and rotate the pieces of the plate to match this image.
The Talisman Portion of the Clock Puzzle
Once the Broken Plate portion of the puzzle has been solved, the Talisman you carry can be placed onto it. Before doing so, take a look at the three mechanisms on top of the clock.
Of the three mechanisms, the largest shows the number “6”, the second largest shows the number “4”, and the smallest depicts the number “3”. This gives you the code “643”.
Place the Talisman onto the plate and rotate it until its sections match the numbers on the dials. This will complete the puzzle and show you a small vision of where to go next.
