To advance through the story of Alone in the Dark 2024, you need to complete many intricate puzzles. In this guide, we’ll focus on the Boiler Room puzzle.
Boiler Room Puzzle in Alone in the Dark 2024
This puzzle consists of four parts, similar to the Astronomical Clock puzzle. These parts include finding each of the Broken Plate pieces, turning off the boiler, and solving the Boiler’s puzzle.
Broken Plate Locations for the Boiler Room Puzzle
Each of the Broken Plate pieces require new areas to be unlocked and multiple puzzles to be completed. Here, I’ll walk you through grabbing each piece in detail.
Broken Plate Piece One
To get the first Broken Plate piece, you first need to open the Medicine Box in Lottie’s room. To do so, you’ll need to visit the Mezzanine. The Medicine Box Key can be found on top of the piano.
Place the key into the box to get a bottle of Dr. Jenkin’s Lozenges.
With the lozenges in hand, go through the main hall and up the stairs to the gallery. The door to the right can be entered using the Sitting Room Key from Jeremy’s Bag. You’ll want to enter Cassandra’s room, which is the second door on the right.
On her desk, you can grab a note and a bottle of Margrave Liniments.
Now you can work on the medicine puzzle in the back of the room. Begin by placing the Dr. Jenkin’s Lozenges and Margrave Liniments on the Medicine Tray.
Move and rotate the bottles until a solid line of rot is formed. This gives you the code “257”.
Using Perosi’s Journal, translate the code from the bottles (“257”) into zodiac signs. You should get the code “Pisces”, “Gemini”, “Leo”. Enter this into the cabinet’s lock to get the first Broken Plate piece.
Broken Plate Piece Two and Turning the Boiler Off
To get the second Broken Plate piece for the Boiler room, you need to get a new valve for the boiler. The hint for this can be found on the desk in the Clerk’s Office, which says that there is an extra valve in the wine cellar.
To access it, you’ll need to grab the Cellar Key from the Drawing Room.
With the key in hand, enter the Food and Wine Cellar. Unlock the door and travel to the back area to see the valve. Unfortunately, the Valve is blocked by an electrified puddle.
Turn to the right and grab a Switch off of the nearby shelf.
Now, follow the yellow wire to get to the electrical box. Place the missing Switch into it.
Turn the power off and grab the Valve.
From here, travel to the boiler room. There will be one monster on the way, but they can easily be taken out. Place the Valve on the boiler to pause the steam.
Enter the next area and walk to the right to enter the small room. After a short cut scene, the second Broken Plate piece will be yours.
Solving the Broken Plate Boiler Puzzle
With both Broken Plate pieces in your inventory, enter the boiler’s puzzle. Place each of the pieces onto the puzzle to begin moving them around.
To solve the puzzle, you need to make it match the corresponding picture on page 5 of the Commonplace Book. Just like the Clock Puzzle, solving this puzzle will allow you to use the Talisman on it.
To get the numbers for the Talisman, view the three dials on the front of the boiler.
- The large dial points to the number 9.
- The medium-sized dial depicts the number 7.
- The smallest dial points to the number 5.
Spin the three rings of the Talisman until their numbers align with those of the dials. This will show you a glimpse of the next area to go to.
