HOW TO UNLOCK THE SUBSTORY
To unlock the An Authentic Blockbuster substory, players must progress to Chapter 4: In The Ghetto. Once in this chapter, head to Downtown, Honolulu, specifically Sunset Park. Here, players will find James, a globally-renowned director who looks down on his luck. The substory requires players to have completed Substory 15: Samurai, May We Walk Together? and Substory 27: The Pursuit Of Realism. These prerequisites set the stage for the exciting events that unfold in An Authentic Blockbuster.
MEETING JAMES
Upon arriving at Sunset Park, players will notice a man sitting alone on a bench. This man is James, a director who may seem familiar to Ichiban. Approach James and engage in a conversation to learn more about his current situation. James reveals that he has been curious about old Japanese films since his encounter with Nathan in Substory 15. However, he feels that his upcoming summer blockbuster is missing something and is unsure of what to do.
Ichiban, being the kind-hearted protagonist, suggests that James apologize to Nathan for their previous disagreement. James agrees and expresses his remorse for bullying Nathan.
Calling Bony Kashiwa
Remembering the old-school director from Substory 27, Ichiban offers to make a call on James’ behalf. This call is to none other than Bony Kashiwa, a legendary director who can provide valuable guidance. When prompted with a choice, select Bony Kashiwa as the person to call. Ichiban’s correct guess not only leads to Bony Kashiwa’s involvement but also boosts Ichiban’s Intelligence stats.
THE DIRECTORS AT PLAY
After the call, Bony Kashiwa agrees to meet up with James and Ichiban at the park. When Bony Kashiwa arrives, he recognizes James and the two directors exchange pleasantries. Ichiban is intrigued by their connection and asks if they know each other. Both directors respond with a playful “by reputation!” Players will witness a heartwarming interaction between James and Bony Kashiwa, as they discuss their passion for filmmaking.
James shares the plot of his upcoming movie and highlights a crucial scene where the hero must run through colliding semis to reach the command room. Bony Kashiwa, known for his expertise in creating authentic cinematic experiences, offers to help set up the scene. In an unexpected turn of events, Ichiban finds himself agreeing to be the stuntman for this high-risk scene. Players must select “Fine… I’ll help” when prompted.
Semi-close Call
If players choose to meet up with James and Bony Kashiwa later, they can find them in the same area where they initially met Kashiwa during Substory 27. Speak with Kashiwa’s assistant, Furukawa, and wait for the directors to arrive. Once they do, select “Start the shoot” to begin the stuntman minigame.
In this minigame, players must navigate through a series of oncoming trucks and reach the goal within 40 seconds. Use the left stick to dodge the trucks and showcase Ichiban’s agility. You will have 3 lives in which to become successful.
SUBSTORY REWARDS
Completing the An Authentic Blockbuster substory grants players the Modified Rocket Launcher item, which can significantly enhance their combat capabilities. This weapon’s high damage output makes it a valuable asset in battles throughout the game. With the ability to deal 600 Fire damage to enemies.
