Besides searching every nook and cranny of houses, bunkers, and facilities in Atomfall, players must also uncover buried caches containing ammo, recipes, and various other resources.

For those looking to get ahead quickly, here are several ways to obtain the Metal Detector in Atomfall.

Where to find Metal Detector in Atomfall

Trading

Early in the game, two traders named Molly and Reg can hook you up with a Metal Detector in exchange for multiple items.

After leaving the bunker, the first NPC you’ll meet is Nat Buckshaw. Talk to him, and he’ll mark Molly’s location at the Trader’s Camp (26.4E 79.0N). Molly offers all sorts of useful gear, including bandages, pistol and shotgun ammo, and, of course, the Metal Detector. Money is obviously useless in the quarantine zone, so you must be willing to sacrifice items to get the item that you need.

Another trader worth checking out is Reg Stansfield. Head into the Slate Mine Caves and follow the cart tracks to find him. Like Molly, he carries the Metal Detector, along with Burn Salve (which will be useful for dealing with robots), gunpowder, and hatchets.

Find the dead body in Slatten Dale

Fortunately, there’s a way to get the Metal Detector without giving up any of your items or loot.

Head to the marked location, and you’ll find a dead Outlaw lying on the ground. Loot the body to collect our handy tool along with other items like Glass and Scrap. Be quick, though and don’t stay in the water for more than a few seconds. Slug-like creatures will swim toward you fast, biting and causing you to take damage and bleed.
