Baldur’s Gate 3 – Find The Missing Shipment (Side Quest) Guide

As expected with any typical RPG game these days, Baldur’s Gate 3 also comes with a ton of optional side quests that you can try and complete.

One of these side quests is Find The Missing Shipment which is available whilst exploring the The Risen Road, the quest itself can be obtained whilst on Act 1 / Chapter 1.

It will involve meeting up in a cave, fighting off a group of gnoll and deciding what to do with a treasured cargo


SPOILERS

SOLO (SINGLE CHARACTER – Rogue) Vs GNOLLS (FLIND) (STARTS AT 31:32)

  • ACT (CHAPTER) UNLOCKED: Act 1 (Chapter 1)
  • LOCATION: The Risen Road
  • QUEST GIVER: Rugan

WALKTHROUGH:

  • In order to activate this quest, you will need to head to The Risen Road and to the coordinates (x: 49 y: 622) in order to learn about trouble relating to the gnolls
  • Select whichever dialogue option you want. However, by agreeing to take out the gnolls you will be rewarded with Astarion – Disapproves, Wyll – Approves, Shadowheart – Disapproves, Gale – Approves
  • Several gnoll will now appear and you will have to fight them.
  • After the fight, go ahead and speak to Rugan once again

TAKING THE CHEST FOR YOURSELF (OPTION)

  • After taking out the gnoll and helping Rugan, you can then decide what to do with the cargo. This includes taking the contents for yourself by selecting either the (INTIMIDATION) – Whatever your cargo is, I’ll take it as payment and winning the die roll or just deciding to attack him and having the end result with you taking the cargo regardless, doing so will result in Astarion – Approves, Shadowheart – Approves, Lae’zel – Approves, Gale – Approves. However, unless INTIMIDATION works you will end up having to fight
  • In order to actually open the chest you will need to attack it using a sword or something to that effect, or use a lockpick.
  • The cargo itself actually contains an Iron Flask, which when used summons a monster known as Spectator. The item itself can either be used during combat (ie throwing it into a horde of enemies, whilst keeping at a safe distance and then watching it kill everyone), or fighting it yourself. Though the latter one is somewhat less fun as it can be a rather tough enemy to take down, it also doesn’t drop anything.

TAKING THE CHEST TO IT’S OWNER (OPTION)

  • After taking out the gnoll and helping Rugan, you can then decide what to do with the cargo. This includes taking the contents for yourself by selecting either the (INTIMIDATION) – Whatever your cargo is, I’ll take it as payment and winning the die roll or just deciding to attack him and having the end result with you taking the cargo regardless, doing so will result in Astarion – Approves, Shadowheart – Approves, Lae’zel – Approves, Gale – Approves. However, unless INTIMIDATION works you will end up having to fight
  • For this option unlike the above option (taking the cargo for yourself and having to attack / lockpick the chest). Instead here you will want to actually pick up the chest. The chest should now be in your inventory
  • In order to return the chest to it’s actual owner you will need to head to Waukeen’s Rest – The Risen Road (x: -60 y: 578)
  • Then head to the fire that is North West of the water feature in the middle of the street.
  • Douse the fire with whatever water abilities that you may have so that we can pass through safely. We should now be at the barn area
  • Head to the shabby door next to the barn, the door should have crates outside of it. Smash or climb over these crates in order to get through the door
  • A scene will now play (if you haven’t already been here) and you will receive the Engraved Key
  • Now look for a hatch on the floor, access it so we can go underground
  • Now here there will be a hidden staircase behind the wardrobe in the North West corner of the room, this is where we currently need to be
  • We have now arrived at the Zhentarium Outpost
  • A scene will play (again if it hasn’t already done so), continue on and through the Iron Gate
  • Head up the wooden ladders, to the second floor
  • Here you will want to speak to someone named, Zarys. Give her the chest. You will be rewarded with Gold Coin

JOURNAL QUEST NOTES

+ Help The Trapped Survivors –

We discovered two people trapped in a cave, surrounded by a horde of ravenous gnolls. They’ll likely die without help

+ Speak With Rugan –

The gnolls have been defeated. We should let Rugan know

+ Meet With Rugan’s Associates –

Rugan thanked us and invited us to meet his associates. To enter their hideout, we need to use the password ‘little serpent, long shadow’

+ Decide What To Do With The Chest –

The two men died, but left behind a valuable chest. We could try to find it’s owner, or just open it and take what is inside.
