TEARS OF THE KINGDOM HYRULE CASTLE GUIDE

Crisis at Hyrule Castle is a main story quest within Zelda Tears Of The Kingdom (TOTK). Its priority objective has us meeting up with Purah and searching for Captain Hoz. Who is the leader of the search party over at Hyrule Castle. He is also in charge of searching for the fate of Princess Zelda. To reach Hyrule Castle, exit Lookout Landing through the north gate under Purah’s observatory. This will take you to the Hyrule Castle Town Ruins.

REACHING HYRULE CASTLE (IN TEARS OF THE KINGDOM)

On your way, take note of the Steward Construct atop a fallen ruin. This helpful being will upgrade your Energy Wells in exchange for crystallized charges. Energy Wells can increase the capacity of the Energy Cells that we currently possess. Which will ultimately extend the overall duration of Zonai devices.

As you journey through the ruins, explore the tents to find some useful weapons and interact with the Kyonosis Shrine to set it as a fast travel spot. Complete the combat tutorial within the shrine to acquire another Light of Blessing.

Hyrule Castle: Ground Level Exploration

Upon reaching the castle’s front gate, we will find ourselves at the Central Square. Whilst we are here, keep an eye out for Addison, a man struggling to hold up a construction sign. Offer him a helping hand by using the Ultrahand to create a support with nearby wooden planks. (Apparently he tends to call the sign President Hudson. Named after his boss). For helping him we will be rewarded with Red Rupee, Veggie Rice Balls, and a Sleepover Ticket.

Addison struggles with his construction sign.

Then proceed and use the Ultrahand to swivel the castle gates open and enter the castle grounds. The once-dangerous area is now mostly peaceful, but still in ruins. It truly gives you an idea of why this chapter is called ‘Crisis at Hyrule Castle’. Feel free to wander and explore as you make your way to the First Gatehouse.

As we make our way towards the First Gatehouse we will be stopped by a soldier named Sharce. Who has specific orders not to let anyone inside. Unless they are members of the search in finding the princess. He will inform you that in order to pass we must find Captain Hoz. Who should be in the gatehouse.

Keep following the road up and we will find an entrance to yet more ruins. In here there will be several barrels. Destroy them for an Apple. There is also a Traveler’s Shield located on the floor.

Inside the First Gatehouse, you’ll find a temporary camp with a few weapons. A soldier will inform you of the corrosion affecting metal weapons, making them less durable than before. However, you can use the Fuse ability to improve their durability.

To find Captain Hoz, use the Ascend ability or climb up to the balcony above the First Gatehouse. Speak with Hoz, who sports a red plume on his helmet, to update him on your situation.

(Note: Even after speaking with Captain Hoz we cannot gain entry past Sharce. If we attempt to speak with him, he will just simply laugh at the mere thought of seeing Zelda)

Return to Lookout Landing

After your conversation with Captain Hoz, you’ll need to return to Lookout Landing to speak with Purah. She will ask for your help in gathering new map data from the events of the Upheaval using the newly constructed Skyview Towers.

Before you can begin this task, Purah will ask you to rest for a while. Speak with the soldier (Scorpis) in the courtyard to gain access to the Emergency Shelter beneath Lookout Landing. This area is equipped with a Cooking Station, Goddess Statue, and a free bed to recover hearts and pass the time.

While in the Emergency Shelter, interact with its inhabitants:

Kiimo, a man sitting with a group of Zonai Ruin Researchers, can provide information on events happening across the land. Including information on the mysterious shrines

Chef Burmano

Chef Burmano has a side quest called Today’s Menu, where he needs an Apple to create a Fruit and Mushroom Mix. Apples are easy to find. They can usually be found in smashable objects such as boxes and crates. As a reward we will be given a Fruit and Mushroom Mix

Armorer Kosi is near a weapon rack with swords for you to use if you run low.

Atmus, who heads the Monster-Control Crew HQ, can give you information about the different regions and main settlements in Hyrule.

After resting, return to the Skyview Tower at Lookout Landing and speak with Purah. She will give you the paraglider and send you on a test run of the Skyview Towers.

Skyview Towers: Uncovering the Map

The Skyview Towers are crucial in filling out your map region by region and mapping out floating sky islands. As you are launched into the air, take the time to survey the land below and mark points of interest, such as Shrines, Stables, and other locations to investigate after landing. (To scan for points of interest just press the ‘R’ directional stick)

Once you return to Purah, she will inform you of several Regional Phenomena occurring across Hyrule, centered around the main cities of Rito Village, Goron City, Zora’s Domain, and Gerudo Town. You can choose the order in which you want to tackle these missions, but we recommend starting with Rito Village.

This then concludes the ‘Crisis at Hyrule Castle’ quest objective and the ‘Crisis at Hyrule Castle’ story section of The Legend Of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
