How to Unlock Maps in Hollow Knight Silksong

Pharloom is a huge area in Hollow Knight Silksong and it’s easy to get lost in there especially if you don’t know your way around. The map is vast, and there are multiple areas to explore. That makes a map very handy, especially when you’re looking to finish quests and side quests. Unfortunately, the map isn’t activated early on and the game won’t unlock it for you. Instead, you’ll need to find a certain NPC that will help you open the map. Here’s how to unlock maps in Hollow Knight Silksong.

How to Get Maps in Hollow Knight Silksong

Players can get the first two maps from an NPC named Shakra. Shakra is a cartographer who you can find in the Marrows, specifically before you reach Mosshome. You probably have seen her already before you fight against the Bell Beast.

Shakra sells a bunch of things that will be useful. Of course, she has the Mosslands Map, which costs 40 rosaries, and the Marrow map, costing 50 rosaries. The Mosslands cover the Moss Grotto, Mosshome and the Bone Bottom, while Marrow shows the entire Marrow.

Players can access the map by clicking M for PC, double tap RB for Xbox and Double tap R1 for PS5. Meanwhile, quick map is Tab for PC, LB for Xbox, and L1 for PS5. That is assuming the player is using default controls.

Besides Mosslands and the Marrow map, Shakra also puts up more items in her shop: Quill (50 Rosaries), Bench Pins (60 Rosaries), Compass (70 Rosaries) and Shell Markers (40 Rosaries).

Quill highlights every spot you’ve already visited. Bench Pins show the locations of benches across the map, which serve as save points. The Compass, on the other hand, displays Hornet’s icon so players know exactly where she is. Lastly, a Shell Marker lets you place a marker on any part of the map.

It’s best to purchase them all. While the two maps are handy, they’re not quite enough on their own.
