After a bit of exploration in the Marrow region, you’ll find the second boss, or rather, the first main boss in Hollow Knight Silksong, the Bell Beast. During the first encounter, players will find that the Bell Beast is trapped in silk, and players must get rid of this using the Silkspear skill. But once it’s freed, it’ll soon attack Hornet. Here are the best ways to defeat the Bell Beast in Hollow Knight and some useful tips!
How to Defeat Bell Beast in Hollow Knight Silksong
Much like the Moss Mother boss, defeating the Bell Beast requires good timing, tons of patience and dodging skill. Now, one of the best ways to counter it is to learn its movesets and attacks.
All Bell Beast’s Attacks in Hollow Knight Silksong and how to deal with them
The Bell Beast has different attacks, and knowing how to counter them can mean the difference between winning and losing this fight. Unlike the first boss, Moss Mother, each of its attacks deals twice the damage, meaning you’ll lose two health instead of one.
Charge Attack
The Bell Beast’s first attack is the Charge Attack. Be observant and watch for the area where the ground rumbles, then move away from it. The boss will emerge from that spot and perform a forward charge in the direction it’s facing.

Stay in the middle and jump over the Bell Beast to dodge its attack. Score some hits by pogoing or aerial downward attack. Depending on your timing, you can land one or two pogo hits.

Hover Attack
If you hear a growling sound accompanied by a rumble, it’s a sign the Bell Beast is about to use a Hover Attack. It will emerge from the ground and make a huge leap to the other side. Naturally, if it lands on you, you’ll take damage.

Again, stay in the middle. As it hovers over you, do a quick jump and strike its belly once. When it lands, it will be in a prone position for a moment, giving you a chance to land one or two more hits.

Bell Throw
The Bell Beast will burrow and pop up in an area where it will throw two large bells. Each hit can take away two HP. The bells will bounce and roll, so try to jump over them.

Falling Bells Attack
True to its name, the Bell Beast is fixated on bells. Once it has taken roughly 15 to 17 hits, it unleashes a piercing scream. Use that brief window to sneak in a couple of quick strikes before the ground shakes and more bells crash down. Watch the falling debris as it shows exactly where the next bells will drop. Again, avoid them by jumping over it.

This also marks the second phase of the fight. Occasionally, the Bell Beast may release a bell during one of its main attacks.

Keep slipping in hits during its attacks, and after about 28 to 30 strikes, the Bell Beast will go down.
