Hollow Knight Silksong pushes players to master every movement mechanic, from combat maneuvers to scaling tall platforms. One of these is the Pogo jump, but what exactly is this?
Pogo jumping has been around since Hollow Knight, but in Hollow Knight: Silksong it works a little differently. Instead of striking straight downward, Hornet attacks at a diagonal angle. It is essentially a dive kick of sorts. Unfortunately, the game doesn’t explain this well, but the technique is available right from the start. So, if you’re one of the players still struggling with pogo in Hollow Knight: Silksong, here’s a quick guide for you!
How to Pogo in Hollow Knight Silksong?
Players can do pogo by jumping (Z on PC, A on Xbox and Cross on PS5) and attacking downwards by pressing the down button while in mid-air.

It’s been known that the pogo movement technique has returned in the sequel. However, many players are surprised, as unlike Knight’s downward strike, Hornet strikes downward at a diagonal angle, following the direction she was initially facing. After hitting an enemy or connecting to a surface, this move will launch her upward.
You can use this move to sneak in extra hits from above while enemies are mid-attack (like what we did to the Moss Mother during the boss fight) or to give yourself a lift toward higher platforms.
Take time to practice doing this, or, if it helps, try rebinding the keys. We highly recommend mastering the pogo early on in Hollow Knight Silksong, as you’ll need it during boss fights, when reaching high areas, and especially in the Hunter’s March quest as you explore the Marrow. Slight spoiler: you’ll come across spikes, and if you haven’t practiced the pogo technique yet, this part will give you headaches since it requires TONS of pogo-ing.
Now, if you’re a fan of the prequel, and want to stick to the vertically downward pogo, you will need the Crest of Wanderer!
