In addition to upgrading your ship, upgrading your gear is a pivotal part of playing Helldivers II. This is especially true as you get to the harder difficulties. Here, I’ll teach you how to purchase and equip new weapons and armor.
How to Purchase Weapons and Armor in Helldivers II
On your ship, press “R” to open up the Acquisition Center. The Acquisition Center consists of the Warbonds store, the Super Store, and a place to purchase Super Credits.
The Warbonds Stores
The Warbonds shop consists of two sections. The first is the Standard Warbond Shop, which can be used by all players freely. This Shop has ten pages consisting of armor, weapons, Super Credits, and a few profile and aesthetic items. Players begin with the first page and are able to unlock the rest of them after spending specific amounts of Warbonds.
Each item will have its price in the top right corner of its box. By selecting an item and pressing “Tab”, you can view the stats and characteristics of the item you have selected.
By scrolling below the standard Warbond shop, you’ll see the Premium Warbond Shop. It will be immediately available for those who bought the game’s Super Citizen Edition bundle. You can also access the shop for the price of 1,000 super credits. The Premium shop comes with three pages of items, all of which can be viewed without purchasing the shop. I would recommend examining the shop’s offerings to decide if the 1,000 Super Credit price tag is worth it for you.
Superstore
Currently, the Superstore only sells helmets, armor, and capes. Each item is purchased using Super Credits, which can either be purchased with real money, bought a few times with Warbonds, or found during Missions. Like in the Warbond store, pressing “Tab” will show the stats and passives of selected items. The shop resets every 48 hours, so you’ll want to check its offerings every other day to make sure you don’t miss out.
How to Equip New Weapons and Armor in Helldivers II
To equip new weapons and armor, you’ll need to head to the row of computers in the hallway before the holographic map. There will be guns above them as well as a suit of armor between them.
Interact with them to open the Armory interface. The first tab will allow you to swap your primary gun, secondary gun, and grenades. The second tab contains your armor, helmets, and capes. The third tab allows you to change your characters’ aesthetics, the fourth lets you swap your boosters, and the fifth shows you your in-game statistics.
To swap a piece of gear, click on the tab with the item you want to change. Here, I clicked on Primary to view my primary weapons. It shows all of the Primary Weapons I currently own and the types of weapons they are. By selecting a weapon, I can look at its appearance, description, stats, and any particular traits it has.
Once you’ve decided on the gear you’d like to equip, click and hold the left mouse button on the “Equip” button at the lower left of the screen to equip that gear. The button will turn green, indicating that you have the selected gear equipped.
