Saros Equipment skills are six powerful abilities. They allow you to destroy the yellow barriers, access blocked areas, and deal more damage.

How to Unlock and Use Saros Equipment
The six Saros Permanent Upgrade abilities are:
- Jump Network.
- Grapple.
- Overdrive.
- Parry.
- Eclipse Thread.
- Blazing Strike.
All six abilities are acquired upon reaching story milestones. Knowing what each ability does and when it becomes available will help you figure out how to get past obstacles and where you must return to access temporarily blocked areas.
Saros Equipment – Traversal and Exploration Abilities
Traversal abilities allow you to explore optional paths. They also provide combat mobility.
Jump Network
Defeat the Saros Prophet boss and continue towards the next biome to unlock the Jump Network ability. This Permanent Upgrade allows you to use the yellow platforms as booster pads. The jump boost works in combat as well. Use it to get out of harm’s way or to attack the enemy from a different angle. Holding the jump key (X button) boosts the jumping distance.
Grapple
Defeat Bastion, the Ancient Depths boss, and reach the Echelon III camp to learn the Grapple ability. Grapple points appear as blue circles. Use the triangle button to grab onto a grapple point and propel yourself forward or reach a higher location. Similar to the Jump Network ability, you can use Grapple to explore side paths and to gain mobility in combat.
Eclipse Thread
Progress through the Desecrated Forest biome and talk to Kayla to unlock Eclipse Thread. This traversal ability allows you to glide along the yellow threads to access previously unreachable locations. Whenever you encounter a yellow line, press the L1 button to use it. The Eclipse Thread ability is only available during an Eclipse.
Saros Permanent Upgrade Abilities – Combat Skills
Combat abilities give you more defensive and offensive options. The Blazing Strike Permanent Upgrade allows you to destroy the Saros yellow barriers and unlock new areas.
Overdrive
Progress through the Shattered Descent biome until you encounter Eli and complete the interaction to learn the Overdrive combat ability. Notice the purple bar next to your HP bar. As you deal damage and defeat enemies, the purple bar fills up. When the ability is ready, press the activation key to release a powerful AOE attack. This Saros Equipment ability works against normal enemies and bosses.
Parry
Progress through the Blighted Marsh biome until you encounter Alab. Complete his task to unlock the Parry ability. Now you can avoid the Nova projectiles (red orbs) and use them to your advantage. Right before the red orbs hit you, press the R1 button to parry the attack and return it to the enemy, dealing damage and applying stagger. Some traps shoot red orbs, so Parry has uses outside of combat as well.
Blazing Strike
You unlock the Blazing Strike ability soon after starting the last biome, Yellow Shore. This combat ability boosts melee damage, allows you to perform execution strikes on staggered enemies, and, most importantly, lets you break the Saros yellow barriers. You can finally return to early-game biomes and enter the areas blocked by the yellow barriers to collect Halcyon and find missing collectibles. You can also use Blazing Strike on yellow containers to open them even if you don’t have a key.
