Valor Mortis An Unheard Farewell is a side quest in Chapter 2 that requires you to find out what happened to the Adjutant’s soldiers. Completing this quest unlocks the Aggressive Reconnaissance trophy/achievement. Let’s see what you must do to finish this mission!
How to Complete the An Unheard Farewell Side Quest in Valor Mortis
After the fight against the Risen Grenadier, not long after starting Chapter 2, follow the path and you’ll hear someone calling. Approach the house and talk to the Adjutant Sous-Officer to start the quest.
The Adjutant asks you to find out what happened to his unit.
How to Find the Adjutant’s Comrades
From the nearby Demolished Post lantern, follow the broken path. Jump from platform to platform until you notice the wagon.
Pass through the wagon and jump on the next platform after defeating the enemy.
Reach the ground and go over the tree trunk bridge towards the next fast travel point.
Continue on the wooden ramp and jump on the rocks so you can destroy the glowing orb blocking the elevator.
Ride the elevator and enter the tunnel on the right.
Turn right as you exit and go up until you reach an open area with a ladder on the right.
Go up the ladder and follow the path to the right until you reach another ladder.
Destroy the glowing orbs to unblock the elevator.
Look down the elevator shaft and notice the platform.
Take the elevator and jump on the platform. Enter the cave and defeat the enemy. Read the note to find out what happened to the Adjutant’s unit.
Should You Lie or Tell the Truth at the End of the An Unheard Farewell Side Quest?
Return to the quest giver and choose whether to tell him the truth about his soldiers or lie. Your choice affects how the quest ends:
- Tell the truth. You receive the Sleight of Hand amber. You can return to him later and obtain more catalysts.
- Lie. You receive the Sleight of Hand amber. Visit the cave later and you’ll find the Adjutant’s corpse and a Remnant’s Return item.
Once the conversation ends, the quest will be marked as complete and you’ll unlock the Aggressive Reconnaissance trophy/achievement.
