Valor Mortis How to Complete the Laudanum Side Quest

The Laudanum Side Quest in Valor Mortis will force you to make a difficult choice: Do you poison the old lady or not? Completing this quest will get you A Bitter Cure trophy as well. To start, go to the Island of Whispers Lantern. Once you cross the bridge, you’ll arrive at the house.

How to Start the Laudanum Side Quest in Valor Mortis

Go to the door of the old lady, and she’ll ask you to get a bottle of Laudanum. According to her, it’s for the kids she’s caring for. However, turn left and then look for that narrow platform. Go up the path to the door where the children are. One of the children will tell you that the woman is cruel. She’s keeping them prisoner and keeping the drugs for herself!

If you decide to help, rat poison will be mixed in with the Laudanum but first you have to get it.

Finding the Laudanum

Go down to the Market Square lantern. Turn left at the gas and enter the first barn you see. Go up to the second floor and swing across. Head downstairs, past the bales of hay, and out the back door.

Take a sharp right. Up ahead will be a building. Once inside, go up to the second floor. Defeat the enemies and look for the gap in the floor. Don’t worry, you need to fall through it. It’s the only way to get to the Laudanum.

To Poison or Not to Poison?

Now it’s time to see the old lady. It’s up to you whether you want to poison her or not. Give her the drug, and the woman will tell you to rest. Rest at a lantern and come back. What you see depends on if you poisoned her or not.

If you poisoned the old lady, she’ll be dead. Go to the children’s room; to complete the quest, you need to read the journal. Thankfully, the kids are alive and safer than they were with the old lady. On the other hand, if you didn’t poison her, the woman ended up drinking herself to death, but the children are also dead. Read her journal to complete the quest.
