Valor Mortis The Oathbound is one of the game’s longest side quests. To complete it, you must defeat seven enemies across seven game chapters. Let’s see where you can find them!
How to Start and Complete The Oathbound Side Quest in Valor Mortis
The Oathbound side quest is automatically started once you defeat any of the seven Eternal Guards:
- Valen Duroc in Chapter 1.
- Lucien Lafontaine in Chapter 2.
- Ettiene Vauclair in Chapter 3.
- Jean Pierre Polnaire in Chapter 4.
- Severin Susse in Chapter 6.
- Adrien Casell in Chapter 8.
- Bastien Beaufort in Chapter 9.
Completing this quest unlocks the We Wear the Same Colors trophy/achievement.
The Oathbound Eternal Guards Locations
You can find and defeat these foes in any order. They are not tough enemies, finding them is the hard part.
Valen Duroc Location
Take the Onslaught Arch fast travel point and head towards the broken bridge. Follow the path going along the ridge on the left to reach the other side. Cross the bridge and keep going forward when the road splits. Follow the path, turn left, and shoot the red orb to find Valen Duroc.
Lucien Lafontaine Location
From the Demolished Path fast travel point, turn back and go up the ladder. Keep to the left and descend, jumping from ledge to ledge. You will soon spot Lucien Lafontaine.
Etienne Vauclair Location
You need the Grapple and Nephtoglobin abilities to find this guard. From the Fields fast travel point, follow the muddy path and turn right. Use the traversal abilities to reach the house. Take the left exit and keep going using the platforms until you see a grapple point on the left. Use the next grapple point, swing across, and enter the cave. Shoot the red orb inside the cave and then go up to reach another Valor Mortis The Oathbound guard.
Jean Pierre Polnaire Location
From the Old Mine fast travel point, go forward and up the stairs. Jump on the other side and go right to find Jean Pierre Polnaire.
Severin Susse Location
From the Village Church fast travel point, head towards the village. Keep to the left and you’ll find Severin Susse behind a house.
Adrien Casell Location
You need the Shield ability to reach the location. From the Shamble Street fast travel point, go through the passage and down the stairs. Turn left, continue, and then make another left into the alley. Turn right and jump over the fence to reach the street where Adrien Casell is waiting for you.
Bastien Beaufort Location
From the Courtyard fast travel point, go through the tunnel, make a left, and you’ll immediately spot Bastien Beaufort.
How to Unlock the We Wear the Same Colors Trophy
Once you defeat all seven Valor Mortis The Oathbound guards, the Mysterious Stone Slab will be added to your inventory. Return to Bastien Beaufort’s location in Chapter 10 and interact with the symbol on the wall at the other end of the corridor.
Enter the secret room and read the book on the table to find out more about the Eternal Guards and complete the quest. Don’t forget to loot the chests in the room before leaving.
