The Star Wars Outlaws Rancor encounter is the final challenge in the Partners mission. Kay sneaked into Jabba’s palace, freed Nix, and now it’s time to leave this place. However, getting out is not a walk in the park, as you will have to defeat a terrible monster on your way out.
How To Leave the Palace and Encounter the Star Wars Outlaws Rancor
After you free Nix, leave the Menagerie through the back door. Go down the stairs. A cutscene will play. While we all enjoy seeing an iconic Star Wars character, meeting an angry Jabba is not at all pleasant.
You will fall into a pit where you need to deal with many Massiffs. Shoot them and then look for a door. Go to the door and hack it open. Go through the door into the tunnel. The next objective is getting to the hangar where Vail’s ship is.
How to Reach the Hangar
Three Hutt members will run after you in the tunnel.
- Command Nix to get the blaster from the stand on the right.
- Use the blaster to get rid of the trio.
- Go through the arch.
- You haven’t seen the last of the palace defenses as a droid and four guards come after you.
- Use the blaster to take them down. You should first take care of the droid.
- Continue towards the end of the tunnel.
- The room to the left has three more guards.
- Give them the blaster treatment.
- Go to the other side of the room.
- Go through the tunnel until you reach the hangar.
- As you approach the ship, the Rancor makes an appearance. Prepare for a boss fight.
How to Defeat the Star Wars Outlaws Rancor
The Rancor uses melee attacks such as swipes and slams. The attacks do a lot of damage, so it is important to dodge them. When it attacks you, sprint and crouch to avoid taking damage. The fight has four phases.
Phase 1 – Charge the Door
Look to the roof and notice the barrels. Lure the Rancor under a barrel and shoot the barrel. The Rancor’s meter above its head will start to fill. When the meter is fully charged, get near the hangar door. The Rancor will charge the door and damage it. If you execute the move successfully, a cutscene will play.
Phase 2 – Defeat the Hutt Goons
In this phase, you have to deal with some Hutt goons. They take priority over the Rancor. Kill them as quickly as possible.
Phase 3 – Reroute the Terminal
Use the same strategy from Phase 1 to make the Rancor hit the door again. Vail will give you a new task. You have to redirect power to the terminal. Notice the quest marker pointing at a box on the opposite side from Vail. Kay cannot get to the box. Have Nix switch it on.
Phase 4 – Lure the Star Wars Outlaws Rancor Under a Moving Barrel
Now, you need to make the Rancor hit the door again. The barrels have started moving, so this time it is a bit tricky to get the Rancor to move under a barrel. Make the Rancor chase you until you get it in the right position. When it is under a barrel, shoot it and cause the Rancor to hit the door one final time ending the fight.
