Not long after opening the floodgate near the Church, you’ll run into another obstacle in The Sinking City 2: a massive dead whale blocking the canal. The only way forward is to use the nearby crane to move it out of the way, but the machine is missing two essential parts. In this guide, we’ll show you where to find the Gasoline and Steel Gear and how to use them to move the whale.
The Sinking City 2 – Move the Whale
After opening the floodgate, you’ll need to repair the nearby crane and use it to move the dead whale blocking the canal.
How to Get Gasoline for the Crane
Enter the nearby Fire Department. You can see the Gasoline Can inside a warehouse on the ground floor, but the entrance is surrounded by an electrified floor.
Go upstairs into the office and interact with the wall switch near the window to shut off the electricity. Enemies will begin attacking, so use the fireman’s pole to quickly return to the ground floor.
Enter the now-safe warehouse, grab the Gasoline Can, and leave the building. Return to the Crane Engine beside the whale and insert the Gasoline.
How to Get the Steel Gear
The Steel Gear is inside the Arkham Printing House. Head back to the Church, use the Graveyard Key to unlock the Graveyard door to gain access to the Printing House.
Head to the flooded area, and reach the Printing House through the opening on its right side.
You can find the Steel Gear inside this room, but the nearby door is locked. To get inside, you’ll need to use the other entrance, which requires the A.P.H. Key.
To get the A.P.H. Key, leave the Printing House through the hole in the wall and head toward the building containing the Director’s Office. Face the loading dock, then enter the building using the ramp leading inside.
Enter through the window, turn left, then follow the blue pipes until you reach the office.
Enter the white room and pick up the A.P.H. Key from the wall. Leave, and use the wooden door to reach the Printing House again.
Return to the Press Room and use the A.P.H. Key on the Storage Room door. The Steel Gear is sitting on the workbench inside. Take it back to the crane and install it in the Crane Engine.
How to Use the Crane and Move the Whale
Climb back onto the Crane Control Platform and activate the controls.
First, move the crane left over the large red Claw Attachment lying in the street. Lower the hook until the claw attaches, then raise it.
Now move the crane right until the claw is directly above the whale. Open the claw using the on-screen control, lower it onto the whale, and let it grab the carcass. Raise the crane to lift the whale out of the canal.
The route toward the Devil’s Reef Hotel is now clear. Before leaving, you can return to where the red claw was located; removing it opens access to a nearby ladder leading to the optional Printing Plate B.
