In this Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree Death Knight Boss #1 guide, we’re covering how to find the first of the Death Knight bosses and defeat him. The first Death Knight boss is located deep within the Fog Rift Catacombs. You are rewarded for defeating him with 110,000 Runes, Death Knight’s Twin Axes, and x3 Crimson Amber Medallion.
First Level of Fog Rift Catacombs
Beginning at the entrance to the Fog Rift Catacombs, go past the site of grace and turn right at the end of the corridor. Turn left and continue straight. Keep an eye out for enemies that inhabit the area and dodge them when you can.
When the path turns right, keep going. You’ll come across a set of stairs that lead to another room. At the bottom, turn left and go down more stairs. Warning though as you continue your way down there will be a trap waiting for you right at the drop-off. A wall of spikes drops down from the ceiling. When the spikes rise, quickly drop down to the floor below. Immediately run straight, since the trap can still get you from that spot. At the bottom of the stairs is a platform that’ll take you to another level.
Second and Third Level of Fog Rift Catacombs
When you reach the next level, go straight and go down the stairs to your right. Turn left at the end of the hallway. You’ll enter a long room. Use the alcoves on the left side to avoid the big spike trap that drops down from the ceiling every five seconds and the enemy throwing projectiles at you.
When you reach the third alcove, wait for the trap to drop and, once it rises, run across the room to the doorway on the right. This room has a similar trap. Wait in the doorway for the trap to fall and, once it rises, run across the room to the other doorway. Pull the lever to your left to call the platform to you.
On the next level, go straight and, at the bottom of the stairs, traverse the mist.
How to Defeat Death Night Boss #1 in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree
The first Death Knight Boss dual wields two axes. He uses them for close-range melee combs. He uses lightning magic to attack from a distance. To defeat him swiftly, summon your Mimic Tear to distract the boss and use long-distance spells to attack. Keep this up until he runs out of health or until your Mimic Tear dies. If your Mimic Tear dies, dodge and run away from the boss’s combos. Dodge sideways when you see him charging his lighting attack. Keep your distance and use long-range attacks.
