This Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree Bayle of the Dread Boss guide tells you where Bayle is located and how to defeat him. Bayle the Dread is one of the hardest bosses next to the final boss, Promised Consort Radahn. Defeating him at level 150 is very difficult, but it’s much easier if you’re a level 190+ and have 15+ Scadutree Fragments.
Bayle is an enormous dragon located at the Jagged Peak Summit. Your rewards for slaying him are 490,000 Runes and Heart of Bayle.
Complete Igon’s Questline in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree
Before you battle Bayle the Dread, you’ll need to prepare. Complete Igon’s questline in order to receive his finger, which you can use to summon during battle. Having an extra ally with you will make a big difference. You’ll also have to defeat two drakes on the Jagged Peak, which is done during Igon’s questline.
Receive Blessing from Dragon Communion Priestess
Next, you’re going to want to talk to the Dragon Communion Priestess at the Grand Altar of Dragon Communication site of grace. This blessing lowers the damage taken during battle. If you’ve already done this and used the blessing, you can talk to her again to get another one.
You can find the Dragon Communion Priestess after the Dragon’s Pit. Exit through the Dragon’s Pit Terminus and ride southeast. The path curves when you reach the water. Head directly south through the canyon, where you’ll find the Grand Altar of Dragon Communication site of grace and the Priestess. She is standing by the massive dragon skeleton. Approach her and talk to her. Select the option “Devour draconic essence.” You can then equip the blessing to a quick slot so it can be used in battle. It is recommended to use the blessing during the second phase of the battle with Bayle to utilize it most effectively.
Bayle of the Dread Location and Strategy
Bayle the Dread is located at the top of the Jagged Peak. During the fight, use your Mimic Tear and summon Igon to distract Bayle. Use long-distance attacks, like Comet Azur, Great Glintstone Shard spell, and others. Aim for the head to do the most damage. His hits are extremely hard to dodge and deal a lot of damage. They can be avoided with perfect dodges.
At half health, Bayle transforms and shoots fire projectiles. Roll sideways to dodge them. He also breathes waves of fire, which can be dodged through if timed right. Having as many health flasks on you as possible will save you from certain death.
