How to Unlock the Eternal Strands Equipment Upgrade Feature
Keep following the main story until you complete the Blazing a Train mission. This is part of the main campaign, so there’s no way to miss it. After completing this mission, you will go back to the base camp. Several new features will become available. To unlock the Reforge system, you need to complete a quick task.
How to Repair the Forge For Crafting in Eternal Strands
The base camp has a Forge that is out of order. Brynn must fix it to unlock its functionality. Go meet Casmyn and interact with her to start the Treading Water quest.
You need to acquire 10 Camp Supplies to fix the Forge. It is very easy to get these items. Use the Salvage option on 10 items from your inventory and you will obtain the necessary supplies. Once you have them, interact with Casmyn and select the Upgrade Station option. The Forge will upgrade from level 1 to level 2. Brynn can now use the Sola’s Forge to enhance her gear to level 2.
More upgrades will become available as you advance in the main mission. Don’t forget to check in with Casmyn later for further upgrades. The Caravan upgrade expands your inventory so you can carry more items. Caravan upgrades require Camp Supplies.
Speak to Sola – Crafting in Eternal Strands
In order to craft items, you have to speak to Sola at her forge in the camp. This will allow us to start the Honing the Edge quest
We will be given several upgrade materials. You will use them for your first gear upgrade. Red Iron, Yellow Lined, and Rehn-Treated Hide are basic materials. You will come across better and rarer resources as you progress through the game.
Speak to her and select “Craft”. This will open the crafting menu, showing you all the different items you can craft, such as swords and shields, bows, torso armor, arm armor, and leg armor. In this menu, you can see your schematics, the number of resources you need, and stats for the items such as armor, heat resistance, cold resistance, and weight.
How to Enhance Brynn’s Equipment
Interact with Sola and select the Reforge option. Pick the equipment you want to upgrade. Take a moment and browse all the upgrade options. The stats you can alter depend on the used materials. Brynn can upgrade the weight, cold resistance, heat resistance, armor, or weapon power of her items. If you use rare materials, you get better upgrades. Rough Leather, Softwood, and Cobalt Iron are some of the materials required for reforging (upgrading).
Understanding Resources and Material For Crafting
To craft weapons and armor, you need to gather materials by exploring the world and looting enemies. Material can be broken down into salvage, but hold onto some for crafting purposes. When you speak to Sola, a schematic for each type of item you can create will tell you exactly what type of resource you need and how many.
There are four types of resources and all materials fall into one of these types. They are:
- Tanned resources
- Forged resources
- Woven resources
- Carved resources
When you click on the schematic and then the resource, you’ll see exactly what materials are classified as “tanned resources” or “forged resources”. For example, Darter Hide is a tanned resource, steel is a forged resource, and red cotton is a woven resource.
The resources you need vary per item, some having all four while others require two woven resources, but you always need four. Different materials in that category have different effects, like offering higher armor or heat resistance.
Equipping Your Weapons and Armor
Once you’ve selected the resources you want, select craft. You can equip the item automatically. If you decide to wait and equip it later, you’ll have to talk to Casmyn and select Change Equipment to do so.
