Eternal Strands Surgeborn Herald

Eternal Strands – Surgeborn Herald Encounter Guide

Eternal Strands

Surgeborn Herald is the most challenging Eternal Strands enemy. Let’s see what strategy works best and how to harvest it for strand upgrades!

How to Defeat the Surgeborn Herald

You will face this foe as part of the campaign during the A Sudden Gambit and On the Precipice quests. Heralds are also found on the map in areas such as Dynevron and Glintwood Hollow. The quest variant is easier to defeat than those found in the wild. Defeating the Surgeborn Herald during the campaign gives you a taste of its strength. Let’s see how to handle this enemy when you encounter it outside of the story quests. The Herald’s attacks remain the same, but they are more powerful.

Surgeborn Herald Melee Attacks

Eternal Strands Surgeborn Herald Sword Attack

Sweep Attack

The enemy does a sword swing. You can avoid it by getting extremely close to the boss or running away from its range. If you are using a sword, that means you are close to the boss, so getting closer is the preferred strategy. Should you fight with a bow, putting distance between you and the boss is faster. The attack can be blocked, but it’s better to avoid it.

Triple-Strike Attack

The boss drops the sword three times. You can dodge the attacks by rolling from one side to another.

Frontal Sword Attack

The boss lunges at Brynn. The sword remains stationary for a few seconds before the boss pulls it back. You can use this time to jump on the sword and get on the boss. However, the boss can shake, causing Brynn to fall.

Surgeborn Herald Ranged Attacks

Fireball

Fire and Ice Projectiles

The boss sends fire and ice projectiles at Brynn. You can grab them with the Weaver’s Grasp strand and throw them away or at the boss.

Shadow Attack

The Herald picks up Brynn and attacks her with the sword. Get away from the impact area. If you happen to get caught, you can block the sword attack.

Vulnerable Spots

The vulnerable spots are:

  • Horns.
  • Shoulders.
  • Chest.
  • Hands.
  • Elbows.

These are the spots you need to target in order to remove the Herald’s armor.

Encounter Strategy

The priority during this fight is to remove the armor while avoiding the attacks. Pay attention to the attack moves and react accordingly to avoid taking damage. When the boss is not performing an attack, you should aim at its vulnerable spots. There are several ways to do this.

Kinetic Stream

The bow is the safest choice. You can climb the boss and use the sword to hit the vulnerable spots. The Kinetic Blast strand can help you reach the boss. Brynn can grab objects with the Weaver’s Grasp strand and throw them at the weak spots. Choose whichever method you have mastered.

Eternal Strands Surgeborn Herald Harvest

Destroy the armor and use Ice Wall on the hand that is not holding the sword. This will prevent the boss from grabbing you. Use Kinetic Stream and cling to the Locus Point on the face to harvest it and collect the Kinetic Stream strand for upgrades.
