Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 doesn’t waste any time when it comes to missable content. Just a few minutes into the game and you already have the opportunity to grab an accidental achievement. However, you can just as easily miss it.

When You Can Unlock the Deja Vu Trophy

If you had the curiosity to check out the trophy list before starting the game, you might have noticed this achievement description saying “You defeated Capon during practice. Again.”. This is a reference to the first Kingdom Come Deliverance game.

Henry must best Hans Capon in a mock battle. This happens as soon as the main quest, Easy Riders, begins. It is the first game quest, starting after the introductory cutscenes. Shortly after setting camp, Hans Capon asks Henry to practice. This serves as a quick combat tutorial, where you will be learning basic moves. After the practice is over, Hans wants to do some more sparring. This is your chance to grab the trophy.

How to Get the Trophy

Hans asks Henry if he wants to bet on the outcome of the duel. Since you must win the duel to get the achievement, this is a safe bet.

However, beating Hans is not that easy, especially if you haven’t played the first game and have no experience with the game’s fighting system. The trick to beating Hans is to wait for him to come at you. Easier said than done, as Hans moves faster than he did during practice.

When the shield symbol goes green, make a perfect block and counter with an attack. Pay attention to Hans’ stance. Ideally, you should aim the attack at his unprotected sides. This was too part of the practice. Follow the block with an attack and keep an eye on your stamina.

When your stamina is depleted, you cannot block anymore and become vulnerable. Putting some distance between you and Capon should give your stamina enough time to recover before he attacks you again. The trouble with this duel is that Henry cannot take too many hits, whereas Capon seems to be invincible. Halfway through the duel, you have the option to surrender or keep going. Choosing to taunt Hans might level up your Speech attribute. Don’t surrender and continue the duel following the same strategy.

The annoying part is that if you lose, you have to reload and do the practice again before getting to the dueling part. Also, if you don’t feed Mutt before starting the training, that task will fail.
