Hogwarts Legacy – The Daedalian Keys (Side Quest)

The Daedalian Keys is another optional side quest within Hogwarts Legacy. It can be found and collected over at the The Astronomy Wing. Here we can find and speak with Nellie Oggspire

This specific side quest sees us having to collect Daedalian Keys. There are 16 of them to find altogether. Once you have successfully managed to find one we will then need to follow it. They will lead us to a locked cabinet.

(Note: You are required to have the ‘Alohomora’ spell equipped. You can get it as part of the main story. Continue the game until then)

SIDE QUEST: The Daedalian Keys
QUEST GIVER: Nellie Oggspire
LOCATION: The Astronomy Wing (Transfiguration Courtyard – Hogwarts Castle)
GUIDE: Head to the Transfiguration Courtyard in order to find and speak with Nellie Oggspire. Thus begins our key collecting hunt. There are 16 of them to be found altogether.

The Daedalian Keys are located throughout the Hogwarts Castle. Where they can often be seen flying around, basically we are hunting for keys with wings. Interesting..

LOCATION: The Astronomy Tower (Astronomy Wing)
GUIDE: Here head through the small wooden archway and up the stairs. The flying ‘Daedalian Key’ is located up here. Follow it and it will lead us to our first locked ‘House Cabinet’. Which is down the stairs and first room on the left, inside a classroom. Inside this ‘House Cabinet’ is a ‘House Token‘

Once you have acquired the ‘House Token’ go ahead and report back to Nellie Oggspire. She will want us to continue hunting for the ‘Daedalian Keys’ in hopes that, once we have them all, we will be rewarded with something spectacular.

For now though, we need to take the ‘House Token’ to our ‘house chest’. In order to find your ‘house chest’ you will need to travel to your ‘house common room’. For house ‘Slytherin’ that is over in The Grand Staircase area.

By inserting the ‘Daedalian Key’ into our ‘house chest’ the game will then let us know that we have to find 15 more of these keys. Quite a few then. Let us not dawdle.

LOCATION: Defence Against The Dark Arts Tower (The Astronomy Wing)
GUIDE: Head to the display of the rhinoceros over in the Dark Arts Tower and continue on past it and up the stairs. Follow these stairs to the ‘house cabinet’.

LOCATION: Potions Classroom (The Library Annex)
GUIDE: We can find this one by heading down the staircase and continuing through the double doors. Keep following the path down and it will lead us to our next cabinet.

LOCATION: Central Hall (The Library Annex)
GUIDE: Head right of the large water feature and we will find our ‘Daedalian Key’. The cabinet itself is located down the steps to the left, on the other side of the room.

LOCATION: Central Hall (The Library Annex)
GUIDE: From the large water fountain we now want to head up the stairs. To the next floor above. The key is flying around this floor, around the back of the stairs leading further up.

The cabinet itself is located back down stairs and to the right. Not that far away.

LOCATION: Library (The Library Annex)
GUIDE: This ‘Daedalion Key’ can be located flying around the bookshelves. The cabinet itself is located near the spiral staircase.

LOCATION: Great Hall (The Great Hall)
GUIDE: Head through the double doors and continue through the next few double doors until you reach a staircase leading down. The ‘Daedalion Key’ is located here. The cabinet itself is downstairs and to the right. (The Entrance Hall)

LOCATION: Great Hall (The Great Hall)
GUIDE: This ‘Daedalion Key’ is located next to the burning fire. The cabinet itself is located on the other side of the room and up the stairs.

LOCATION: Great Hall (The Great Hall)
GUIDE: Head through the double doors on the right to find yourself outside. Head down the steps and to the right, head through the arch to find the ‘Daedalion Key’. The cabinet itself is on the lower ground, follow the stairs down.

LOCATION: Grand Staircase Tower (The Grand Staircase)
GUIDE: Follow the magical staircase down and past the puzzle door. Keep going and we will encounter the next key. The cabinet itself is located at the very bottom of this magical staircase.

LOCATION: Faculty Tower (The South Wing)
GUIDE: Head through the door and up the following staircase, to the reach the floor above. They key is on this floor. The cabinet itself is located back downstairs.

LOCATION: Faculty Tower (The South Wing)
GUIDE: From where we located the previous ‘Daedalian Key’ we now want to continue on up the next flight of stairs and to the next floor. Continue up to the next following floor. All the way to the very top, passing the chandelier along the way. We will reach the ‘Hospital Wing’. The locked cabinet is up here. As for the key, that is located hovering around the mechanical gears. By the hallway of paintings.

LOCATION: Clock Tower Courtyard (The South Wing)
GUIDE: In the Clock Tower Courtyard we will want to access the door with the Level 1 lock on it. Once inside head up the stairs and you will find the key here. On the wooden walkway. The cabinet itself is located up another section of stairs.

LOCATION: Bell Tower Courtyard (The Bell Tower Wing)
GUIDE: Head up the stairs and through the open doorway. This will take us to North Hall. They key is here, in this hall. The cabinet itself is located up on the top floor.

LOCATION: The Map Chamber (Secret Rooms)
GUIDE: Head up the spiral staircase and once at the top, continue on down the hallway. Yet more spiral staircases to climb. This will take us to the ‘Dungeons’. Unlock the gate at the top and head through the open doorway. Here we will encounter the statue of a dragon. The key is flying around here.

The cabinet itself is located up the next flight of stairs, to the floor above.

LOCATION: The Map Chamber (Secret Rooms)
GUIDE: From the previous cabinet continue back down the stairs and past the large dragon statue. The ‘Daedalian Key’ is located sitting on the large chandelier within this hallway. So cast a few spells at this chandelier in order to knock it away and so that we may begin following it. The cabinet itself is located on this same floor, around the corner.

Now that we have all 16 ‘House Tokens’ we want to return to our ‘house common room’ and deposit all of the tokens into the ‘house chest’.

After getting your reward from the ‘house chest’ we will then want to find and speak with Nellie once again. This will then complete the side quest.
