To embark on the Home to Roost substory, you must first meet the unlock conditions. In Chapter 3: The Fool in Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth. It is a rather cute quest that involves a bird and Ichiban’s scruffy hair. That, perhaps, resembles a birds nest.
HOW TO UNLOCK HOME TO ROOST
To embark on the Home to Roost substory, you must first meet the unlock conditions. In Chapter 3: The Fool, after visiting Jeff’s taco truck for the first time, head to Aloha Beach in Honolulu. Look for a lounge chair on the western side of the beach. Approach the chair and choose “Look out, chair!” to let your protagonist, Ichiban, take a well-deserved rest.
SETTLING ON THE LOUNGE CHAIR
Once Ichiban settles into the lounge chair, what starts as a simple nap turns into a whimsical adventure with a yellow bird. Upon waking up, Ichiban realizes that a bird has made its nest in his hair, and thus begins the Home to Roost substory.
BIRD BRAINED
Ichiban attempts to remove the bird from his hair but receives a few pecks in return. He discovers a nest on the ground with scattered yellow feathers, leading him to believe that the bird has become separated from its mother. Determined to help, Ichiban decides to lend a hand after a quick meal.
He names the bird Joseph and embarks on a mission to find bird food at the nearby ABC Store. However, there’s a catch – Ichiban must make it to the store within two minutes without disturbing Joseph or injuring his own neck. Guide Ichiban carefully, avoiding obstacles such as tourists, cars, and even sumo wrestlers who try to block his path.
After successfully reaching the store, Ichiban obtains some blended nuts as bird food. He takes Joseph to a nearby park table and treats him to a snack before continuing his own search for food.
PARROT POACHING
Just before Ichiban leaves the park, a large yellow bird lands on the table. Ichiban asks Joseph if they’ve found his mother, and the small bird chirps excitedly. However, their reunion is interrupted by two men carrying rifles who claim they want to “protect” the bird.
To Ichiban’s horror, the men reveal their intention to kill the bird and use its body for taxidermy. Refusing to let this happen, Ichiban engages in a battle against the poachers. Fight alongside Ichiban and defeat the poachers in standard combat to proceed with the substory.
With the poachers defeated, the birds are finally reunited. However, their nest has been destroyed. Ichiban comes up with a plan, and the scene changes to his apartment above the Revolve Bar, where the birds now happily reside.
REWARDS
Completing Substory #19: Home to Roost in Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth offers some valuable rewards. Clearing this substory allows you to receive healing items from Joseph the bird. He will make a nest at the second floor of the Revolve Bar and regularly distribute recovery items. Keep an eye on Joseph to stock up on these useful healing items.
