How to Begin the Indiana Jones and the Great Circle A Savage Discovery Side Quest
You can start this quest after Indy exits the Apostolic Library. Check the military tent just outside the Library and you will find the Theft Report about an archaeologist caught stealing artifacts from the dig site.
Pick up the note and the fieldwork will automatically start. Your next task is to find the Professor.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle A Savage Discovery Walkthrough
Exit the tent and make a right, following the quest marker through the double open doors. Push open the closed door and exit into the Vatican Gardens. Make a left and keep going until you reach the Borgia Courtyards. Make another left and you will see Professor Savage standing before a bulletin board.
Interact with him to learn that the Blackshirts have meddled with his excavation project of the Apostolic Palace and kidnapped Sidney, the archaeologist mentioned in the Theft Report. Sidney knows something about a Stone Fragment found at the dig site. Indy offers to rescue Sidney and sets off to fulfill the promise.
How to Free Sidney
Leave the area and make a right, following the quest marker into the Vatican Gardens.
Keep going until you reach the barricade. Sneak behind the control point past the barricade and enter the restricted area. Go under the barracks where Sidney is imprisoned. Climb up through the hole in the floor. Loot this room and enter the next room. Knock down the guard standing by the window and the other standing near the door. Take the stairs up, be wary of the guards. Open the door and enter the small room with the stairs leading down. Go down the stairs, take care of the guard, and take the Jail Cell Key.
Unlock the door and enter Sidney’s cell. Watch the cutscene and learn that Giuseppe took the Stone Fragment. Sidney returns to Professor Savage and Indy goes to the Excavation Site in search of Giuseppe.
How to Reach the Excavation Site
Leave the barracks the same way you got in, through the hole in the floor. Retrace your steps back to exit the restricted area.
Once you are back on the street, go towards the quest marker to reach the Borgia Courtyards. When you get to the truck, make a left. Climb the ladder to reach the scaffolding. Use the whip to grab the pipe and climb it to get on the roof.
Grab the ledge on the right to get on the wooden platform. Jump on the roof, notice the open window, and reach it by walking along the ledges.
Enter the Apostolic Palace through the window. Go through the door and make a right. Take care of the guard and jump through the window on the left.
How to Reach Giuseppe
Drop down on the platform below and continue straight behind the wooden panel. Wait for the patrol to go back on the wooden bridge and climb the wooden stairs, taking you to the Ufficio Dei Lavoratori. Find the Dig Site Schedule note and learn where Giuseppe is.
Watch the next cutscene and proceed to Section F. Exit through the open door and drop down into the pit. Section F is the tunnel ahead.
Enter the tunnel, make a right and you will soon encounter Giuseppe. There’s no other option but to beat him. Take the Cellar Key and notice the address.
That’s your next destination, Via del Pellegrino 3.
How to Get the Stone Fragment
Exit the tunnel and climb the ladder near Section E. Unlock the gate and descend the two sets of stairs to reach the outside passageway.
Unlock the next door and use the zipline to return to the street. Follow the quest marker and go behind the fence and through the gap to emerge into the Via di Belvedere Military Zone. Take the stairs down and unlock the door with the Cellar Key from Giuseppe. The Stone Fragment is inside.
Collect it and trigger the cutscene with the guard. Defeat the guard and return to Professor Savage and Sidney in the Apostolic Library to end the quest and obtain the trophy!
