Marvel Rivals Doom Match

Marvel Rivals – Doom Match Mode Guide

Marvel Rivals

Doom Match is a new Marvel Rivals mode introduced in Season 1: Eternal Night Falls. It is the life saver for those who, perhaps, want a break from teaming up with other players. Now you can go solo and choose any available character, without needing to worry about them already having been picked.

Let’s delve more into this rather enjoyable new mode!

What is Marvel Rivals Doom Match

Doom Match is a deathmatch game on the Sanctum Sanctorum map. Which, of course, is the home of Doctor Strange. The map itself features numerous portals, mazes, and corridors. For those that enjoy reading the various Doctor Strange comics you may find some of this map familiar. Such as the haunted fridge, which is seen in a number of comics. As a Sorcerer, Stephen Strange has a unique appetite due to his magic and the cost of using it.

Another throwback to the comics is the appearance of the ‘ghost dog’ Bats. Which is a pet that Stephen Strange adopts during his encounter with Loki.

The objective of a Doom Match game is to achieve 16 final hits. There are no teams. All 12 competing players are on their own. Solo. So, for once, if you do end up loosing then you likely only have yourself to blame. Not the DPS players.

The first player to have managed to KO a total of 16 other players wins and achieves the MVP award. You do, however, literally need to KO the player. Having helped and assisted someone else does not count towards your KO kill count. You need to achieve the final hit.

The ranking at the end of a game splits the participants into two brackets. The first six players are the winners and the remaining six are the losers. The number of deaths is also taken into account when determining the brackets. So, the goal is to get as many final hits with as few deaths as possible.

Players are free to pick whichever character they like. This mode is perfect if you want to learn how to play a new character. It’s also a great mode to get achievements. Doom Match is one of the modes in which you can complete Midnight Features event challenges. These challenges have objectives such as achieving rank 3 in points, dealing 20000 damage, and defeating 50 foes. However, one particular challenge is not that straightforward. Let’s see how you can complete it!

How to Complete The Getaway House Challenge

The Getaway House mission is part of the Boogey investigation. The objective is to use five portals. This relates to the particularity of the Sanctum Sanctorum map. This map has two types of portals: orange and purple. To complete the mission, you must enter the purple portals.

Get close to the portal and interact with it by pressing the button. You don’t have to use five portals in one game. The progress carries over between games. Purple portals are mostly found on the outside areas. Completing this mission rewards the Bats or Bust spray.

The Best Marvel Rivals Heroes for Doom Match

If you want easy wins, you should choose one or two-star difficulty heroes. Luna Snow is a great hero for this mode, as her Ice Arts ability has a long range, perfect for the alleys of Sanctum Sanctorum.

Iron Man

Iron Man is another recommended hero. He has good mobility and can damage the enemies from above. Scarlet Witch makes use of her Mystic Projection to avoid damage when trapped in a corridor. Black Panther has many devastating abilities that will help you achieve those final hits. Ultimately, the best hero is the one you are most comfortable playing. Doom Match doesn’t have any objectives and doesn’t require you to perform a specific role, so disregard the current meta and try a new hero.

Unfortunately, one big disappointment with this particular mode is that there are no real rewards or ranking system. It is literally only for those wanting to learn new characters or take a break from the tough and challenging Competitive team play. One can only hope that both this mode and map remains a part of the game for a long time to come. Alongside more rewards and player incentives.
