This Marvel Rivals ranks guide offers insight into the game’s competitive system. The ranking system was first introduced back in Season 0. Although, it did not become available until several weeks after the initial release of the actual game itself. However, certain rankings were only released in Season 1. Rankings such as Celestial.
Let’s see what you need to do to improve your rating!
Marvel Rivals Ranks Explained
Marvel Rivals has a total of nine (9) different ranks (As of Season 1). That players can try to grind through. These include the following;
- Bronze.
- Silver.
- Gold.
- Platinum.
- Diamond.
- Grandmaster.
- Celestial.
- Eternity.
- One Above All.
All ranks, except Eternity and One Above All, have three tiers. Any player can participate in competitive mode once they attain level 10. XP is earned as you play games. Quick Match is one of the fastest ways to get XP. This mode has the quickest matchmaking queue and fast-paced games. So, if you want to level up fast, select a familiar hero, and play Quick Match.
(Note: An interesting point out is that Quick Match features matches against bots. Though not all matches are against bots do be warned that you might end up in matches with them. One way to find out if it was a bot match is by searching your opposition’s career profile. If all of them are restricted then they were indeed bots)
The Points System
As you begin playing through the various ranked and competitive matches you will find yourself either winning points or loosing them, depending on the match result. This can also be the equivalent of gaining experience points.
To advance and climb the various tiers and ranking system you will need to win these points. However, the same can be said about de-ranking too. Yes, you can indeed fall to lower tiers if you are not careful. Just because you have successfully reached a tier does not mean you will be able to maintain it. Start loosing matches and you can, indeed, find yourself de-ranking back to a previous tier.
The Chrono Shield
Just as you can promote, you can also demote. However, the Chrono Shield is a feature that prevents you from demoting. The shield depletes when you use it and you’ll need to recharge it in order to be able to use it again. The shield recharges if you lose too many games. At lower ranks, it recharges pretty quickly. At higher ranks, you need more losses to replenish it.
After you achieve Diamond Tier III rank, your team can ban two heroes in each match. The reasoning is to prevent players from picking the most powerful heroes according to the current meta. After you reach the Celestial rank, you start losing points if you don’t partake in any more games. This system is encouraging players to stay competitive.
Marvel Rivals Matchmaking
The matchmaking system has a few queue-up rules to ensure a fair experience for all players. Up to rank Gold, you can queue with anyone, no matter their rank. From Gold I to Celestial, players can only team up with someone in a rank range no greater than three. Eternity and One Above All players can queue only with Celestial Tier 2 ranks within 200 points.
Marvel Rivals – Season 1 Rewards
Your rank determines the seasonal rewards that you can unlock once the season ends.
The rewards for achieving ranks in Season 1 are as follows:
- Blood Shield Invisible Woman skin for Gold Tier 3 or higher.
- Silver Crest of Honor for Grandmaster Tier 3 or higher.
- Gold Crest of Honor for those that achieve the One Above All rank
For those interested, in Season 0 players were able to achieve the following rewards. Which are, again, dependant on what rank you ended up with.
- Golden Moonlight Skin for Moon Knight for Gold Tier 3 or higher.
- Silver Crest of Honor for those that managed to obtain the Grand Master rank
- Gold Crest of Honor for those that ended on the One Above All rank.
(NOTE: Another interesting point regarding the ranking system is that when Season 1 first released everyone who was around during Season 0 was forced to de-rank by a total of 7 ranks. So, for example, those that ended Season 0 on Gold II had to start Season 1 on Bronze II. They were not able to begin where they left off)
