In Megabonk, you’ll meet a bunch of enemies, both small and big and surviving without early powerups can be tough. Luckily, there are shrines, drops and shops around the map that you can use. If you’re lucky, you can get an early upper hand. This includes finding the Shady Guy
One of those that you should look out for is a mysterious guy standing across random areas in the map. In Megabonk, the Shady Guy is one of the most valuable encounters a player can come across. He serves as the game’s mysterious merchant, providing access to the Shop, where players can purchase random items to strengthen their run.
What does the Shady Guy do in Megabonk
The Shady Guy comes in several variants, each identified by the color of his hat. A black hat Shady Guy represents a common tier, offering basic and low-cost items. The blue hat version is uncommon and gives slightly better gear at a higher price. Players lucky enough to encounter the purple hat Shady Guy can expect rare items, while the yellow hat version is legendary, featuring top-tier gear that can drastically improve the outcome of a run.

Because Megabonk relies heavily on item synergy, the Shop can make or break a build. To purchase items from the Shop, here’s what you need to do:
- Find a Shady Guy: This is a man with a colored hat.
- Interact with him: Go near the man and press E to talk to the Shady Guy
- Select among the three items and purchase
After purchasing an item, the Shady Guy will instantly disappear. This only goes to say that players can only buy one item from him, then he’s gone so choose carefully.

Here are all the worthy items to buy from the Shady Guy:
- Anvil
- Joe’s Dagger
- Soul Harvester
- Wrench
- Cursed Grabbies
- Echo Shard
- Moldy Cheese
- Key
- Demonic Soul
- Dragonfire
- Speedboi
- Boss Buster
- Grandma’s Secret Tonic
- Sucky Magnet
- Overpowered Lamp
