The Metaphor ReFantazio Redscale Dragon Superboss is a challenging enemy that is only available in New Game Plus (NG+). It requires the Book of the Apocalypse. Taking down the Dragon will earn you the Closing the Book trophy achievement
How to Unlock the Metaphor ReFantazio Redscale Dragon Superboss
To be able to fight the Redscale Dragon, you must open the Book of the Apocalypse. You will find this book in the Akademia. You cannot miss it as it rests on a book stand. If you attempt to open it on your first playthrough, you will receive a warning.
To open the Book of the Apocalypse, you need to start a new NG+ on Easy or higher difficulty. You cannot fight the Dragon on Storyteller difficulty. You will know when you meet the requirements to start the fight by checking the book location. The tome is no longer on a stand. You will find it on a desk behind the sofa instead.
How to Prepare for the Metaphor ReFantazio Redscale Dragon Superboss Encounter
It might be tempting to jump into the fight as soon as you can, but you should postpone it until you are at least level 70. Another recommendation is to have access to all of the Archetypes. Let’s see the Archetype suggestion for each party member. The, shall we say, recommended party for this particular fight.
Protagonist – Prince Archetype with Slash Boost, Almighty Boost, Front Boost, and Heat Up.
Hulkenberg – Royal Knight with Debilitate, Medicall, Dekunda, and Dekaja.
Strohl – Royal Warrior with Attack Lore, Slash Boost, Heat Up, and Front Boost.
Eupha – Royal Summoner with Heat Riser, Dekaja, Debilitate, and Pen Patra.
Equipment and Consumables
The Sublime Spoonful food adds extra icon turns, so you should have as many of these meals as you can.
The general rule is to use the best equipment and accessories you have. You can use the auto-equip function to make sure you are wearing the best gear. Do not wear Absorb or Repel equipment. Fire-resistant gear is preferred for this fight.
Two pieces of equipment can make a difference. The Protagonist should wear the Reverent Crown Gear, as it gives an extra turn icon during the fight. Eupha should equip the Knight’s Last Stand so she can survive and resurrect the entire team.
Optional Equipment:
- Cardinal Dragon Armor.
- Cardinal Dragon Robe.
- Sunstalo Plate Armor.
- Dragon’s Fall Sword.
- Dynastic Blade
Metaphor ReFantazio Redscale Dragon Superboss Strategy
One thing to keep in mind is to not use Repel or Drain. The boss reacts to these skills with an attack that will wipe out your party.
Make sure to use buffs to boost your skills. Attack the Dragon with your most devastating abilities. You should also use debuffs on the Redscale Dragon to make it more vulnerable. Save your Sublime Spoonfuls for when you are in danger. If you have 20 or more Sublime Spoonfuls, you can use a cheese strategy. Pop up these meals and you can defeat the Dragon before it takes a turn.
