Silent Hill F Shrine Vault Puzzle – How to Find the Correct Ema

Beyond scares, Silent Hill F unsettles players through mind-boggling puzzles as well. The Shrine Vault is one of its many puzzles, and while it’s not the toughest, it can still make you scratch your head. If you’re one of those players who can’t figure out the puzzle yet or simply want an easy answer, here’s how to finish the Shrine Vault puzzle.

NOTE: This particular guide is based on Story Mode difficulty. However, the video posted covers all difficulties. Including both Hard Mode and Lost In The Fog

Also, if you manage to solve the puzzle. Regardless of chosen difficulty. You can unlock the Untouchable trophy achievement. Which requires you NOT to take any damage from the chained man. So try to avoid him

How to solve the Silent Hill F Shrine Vault Puzzle – Story Mode

The Shrine Vault puzzle begins in the Dark Shrine Path area, right after the Altar puzzle. After following the Fox Mask and finding the doll, you’ll be tasked with locating the correct Ema, which will unlock the Shrine Vault.

While solving the puzzle, enemies may appear from time to time. Also, keep in mind that the position of each symbol varies per playthrough, so the photos in this guide may look slightly different from what you see in your game. Depending on difficulty chosen

The clue for this puzzle can be found in the journal. Specifically, in Story Mode, you’ll need to look for the Crane, the Serpent, and then the Tortoise.

NOTE: In Hard Mode it is the Lightning, Decayed Tree, and Kudzu ema. Whilst, for Lost In The Fog it is the Yokai Of The Carriage, Yokai Of The Umbrella and Yokai of the Kettle

Find the Correct Ema #1 Serpent – Silent Hill F Shrine Vault Puzzle

Go to the marked location, which is between the entrance and the Shrine where you found the doll.

For the first location, you’ll find the Serpent or the blue snake. Flip it, and you’ll get a circle with a vertical line in the middle. This will get noted into the journal and will be used as part of the door code

Find the Correct Ema #2 Crane – Silent Hill F Shrine Vault Puzzle

After finding the first Ema, head west to unlock the rest of the map and continue exploring. This will lead you to the locations of the second and third Ema.

Flip the board with the white crane which will reveal a circle symbol with horizontal line in the middle.

Find the Correct Ema #3 Tortoise

Now, head to the final location, select the yellow Tortoise, and flip it.

The last one is a snake-like symbol.

After flipping all the Ema, you’ll receive a combination lock dial.

Now that you know the three symbols, head back to the Shrine Vault. Use the arrow keys to rotate the dial and align the correct symbols, then press confirm.

• Upper: Circle with horizontal line
• Middle: Circle with vertical line
• Lower: Snake-like symbol
