Silent Hill F - How to Complete the Altar Puzzle

One of the earlier puzzles you come across in Silent Hill F is the Altar Puzzle! It’s a pretty quick puzzle to solve compared to some of the other puzzles in the game.

Read on to figure how out to solve it no matter what mode you’re playing!

How to Solve the Alter Puzzle in Silent Hill F

The Altar Puzzle will be our first of two puzzles that we will need to solve during our trip to The Shrine. Here we will find ourselves locked inside a room and the only way to free ourselves is to solve the puzzle in front of us.

This particular puzzle involves giving the altar offerings and placing them on top of boxes. In the correct order. These offerings include; a bird, fan, rat, jar and a fish.

Silent Hill F Alter Puzzle Story Mode

The puzzle in story mode is pretty easy! Match the style on the knotted cord to what is on the pedestals or boxes.

Place the offerings in this order, from left to right:

1. Bird
2. Rat
3. Jar
4. Fish
5. Fan

Silent Hill F Alter Puzzle Hard Mode

For hard mode, you need to look at each offering and match the pattern on it to what’s painted on the pedestal.

Alter Puzzle Lost in the Fog Mode

The Lost in the Fog mode doesn’t come with any markings, forcing you to read the poem and try to figure out the arrangement. You are, essentially, given a riddle

Here is the poem:

Kudzu, respected by all and a leader of the people, was wed to Pine.

Plum, loved by all and always at the center of any group, was wed to Bamboo.

Chrysanthemum, who had no mate, spent their days studying under Kudzu and became known as the “Sage of the East.”

Let the prosperity of our clan be eternal.

Place the offerings in this order, from left to right:

1. Fan
2. Fish
3. Bird
4. Rat
5. Jar
