There are many games that barely have any autosave, and Silent Hill F is one of them. While the game does have it, it’s not as reliable as you might think. Instead of saving your game at short intervals, it only saves your progress after reaching story checkpoints. That does make sense, but manual saving can save a lot of time during exploration. Luckily, it’s possible in Silent Hill F, as long as you know where to find it and how to do it.
Silent Hill F – How to Manually Save Your Game Progress
Players can manually save their progress by heading to a Hokora, which is essentially a small Japanese shrine that lets you interact with a bunch of features.
Interact with the Hokora by pressing F (Pray). A menu will appear with several options, including Record, Enshrine, Draw Omamori, Change Costume, and Bonuses. To save your progress, select Record.

After selecting Record, you can save your progress in any of the ten available slots. You can create multiple saves or overwrite an existing one if needed.
To load a specific save, go to the main lobby, select Load Game, and choose the slot you want.
How to Find Hokora in Silent Hill F
A Hokora is a shrine scattered throughout each major area in Silent Hill F. You can often find them near houses, mountains, shrines, and other landmarks. They’re fairly easy to spot, marked by two small lanterns on either side, which makes them visible even in dark places like the Dark Shrine Path.

Once you discover a Hokora, it will automatically be marked on your map. This makes it easier to return whenever you need to save your progress in Silent Hill F.
