Solasta: Crown Of The Magister features quite a few different side quests and of which are often put into their own category.

We have the Main Story QuestsSecondary or Side Quests and of course the basic Tutorial Quests. These can also be unlocked by talking to various different NPC and continuing through the main story. You can then view the quest and the quest’s description through the Journal

For this specific page we will be focusing on the The Cradle Of Fire – Main Quest. This particular quest involves us exploring a fiery hot volcano

  • QUEST NAME: The Cradle Of Fire
  • QUEST TYPE: Main Quest
  • ACT / CHAPTER: Act 1 – The Adventure Begins!
  • LOCATION: Caer Cyflen
  • QUEST GIVER: Main Story. Unmissable.
  • PREREQUISITE: The Monastery
  • NEXT QUEST: The Mind Of The Master
  • REWARDS: Master of Evocation – Trophy Achievement
  • GUIDE:
  • This quest is part of Path to Glory and it tasks us with having to take a trip to a hot and steamy volcano in search for our next gem
  • Okay so we have a destination and that is the Volcano which is quite a fair distance away from Caer Cyflen, you will find it to the West. Anyway let us go!
  • Feel free to collect any loot nearby, you can find a bunch of stuff including a Warhammer slightly to the North West of the starting position. Anyway continue on by hopping over the fire
  • When you reach it make sure to push the rock in order to climb up on it and to the platform above. You can find a Dwarven Primrose up here. Then climb back down again in order to trigger a scene
  • You will now meet an orc known as Kebra, apparently another orc known as Arrok killed all of her people. The team suggest that Arrok may know of where the next gem may be and thus wants Kebra to lead them to him. We also need to rescue Brok, one of Kebra’s people who has been taken prisoner. Kebra will now join your party as a Guest Character and one who you need to keep alive in order to avoid a Game Over. Kebra has some great abilities and is more of a Cleric
  • When you are ready to move on step into the blue teleport and we will head inside. You should trigger a scene here involving Arbal who is currently guarding the gate. It is up to you how you want to deal with this situation you can either fight Arbal (though he doesn’t really drop anything of particular interest), or you can try talking your way through the gate
  • Continue on and through the gate to reach the market and the location where Brok is being held prisoner. You will now be forced to fight the captures.
  • After the fight go ahead and check on Brok who is sitting on the top platform
  • Brok will suggest that we try to gather all of the orc tribes together to form an army large enough and strong enough to defeat Arrok
  • Feel free to loot the area if you haven’t already done so and then proceed to the blue teleport to be whisked away in an elevator
  • From here continue North to trigger a scene and meet with the Bloodspear tribe
  • In order to join forces with the Bloodspear tribe we need to defeat an orc known as Edrof. Now this will be a one-on-one match and you cannot use any weapons, so be sure to pick your best fighter
  • After defeating Edrof we will now be the new leaders of the Bloodspear tribe, that is one down two more to go!
  • Feel free to use the nearby camp if need be and then start making your way around the area, we headed North to reach the Bloodspear tribe so lets head West this time
  • Head into the blue teleport to arrive at the Burrows. Here you will be attacked by several Pilgrims, these are resistant to melee attacks so make sure to bring a Mage
  • After the fight make sure to loot the area for some Beautiful Boots and Chain Mail
  • Then continue on into the Crossroads
  • Here we will have several paths we can choose to take, for now lets head East
  • We will now encounter the Bladefang tribe
  • Proceed to speak to their leader, Radulf
  • It seems that in order to recruit Radulf and his tribe we need to bring back a holy Axe of the ancients
  • Okay lets leave the area and continue straight on, heading West from the Burrows exit. Though we could just go and get the Axe now, since we are still here lets introduce ourselves to the last remaining tribe first
  • We will now be at the Sandraven tribe‘s home
  • Speak to Urka who seems to want a key to the sunken city first before joining the alliance, hmm..
  • Now we have a total of 2 things to get before we can form a full alliance; a key to the sunken city and an Axe of the ancients. Lets get the Axe first!
  • So from the Sandraven tribe head West and through the door
  • It will be very dark in here so make sure to light any fire pits that you come across
  • If you head North from the Crossroads exit you can find a crate with 79SP, 57GP, Silver Chalice and a bunch of recipe materials and ingredients
  • However, your main objective lies in the other direction, to the East of the Crossroads.
  • Here push the crate out of the way in order to gain access to the stairs and finally to a bit more light
  • Jump over the platforms as we need to get to the opposite side, you will be attacked by a bunch of smaller spiders as you try to navigate your way across
  • Then after the fight continue your way across the remaining platforms and you will finally reach the Spider Queen
  • After the fight the party will automatically pick up the ancient Axe and you can now return back to Radulf
  • You will then be given a choice to either hand Radulf the Axe or keep it for yourself

OPTION 1: KEEP THE AXE

  • The Axe can be found in your character inventory, it is known as the Sandraven Holy Axe
  • It has a stat of +3 Attack Bonus, +3 Damage Bonus, 1D12+3 Effect on Hit damage
  • However, if you opt for this option Radulf will refuse to join the alliance

OPTION 2 – HAND OVER THE AXE

  • If you choose this option then you will loose the Axe but Radulf will join the alliance and you will receive 500XP

  • Anyway after making your decision we only have the sunken city key to find and then we will have the whole alliance together, Arrok is going down!
  • So return back to the Burrows
  • Then from there head to the Redscar Gate
  • For the time being you can only access the single door here which will take you to the Necropolis Hall
  • After the scene be sure to examine the wall here in order to trigger a side quest known as Hickery Corner Wood
  • Then from there head through the following door to initiate a fight against a bunch of Skeletons and Spectral Avengers
  • After the fight look for a secret doorway within the wall, press and hold the ALT key if need be. This secret door can be opened and will lead you to a loot able object containing a Gear-Shaped Shield, Chain Mail, Elven Shortsword, Shortbow and some arrows
  • From there head through the nearby door to find a rather small room with a coffin in the centre of the room
  • Inspect the coffin to initiate a scene with the ghost of Emperor Laethar
  • After the scene we will once again be given several options on what to do next, we can either grab the key from the coffin, which will lead us to a fight against Emperor Laethar. Either that or our other option being, we take on Arrok ourselves without the help of the orc alliance.

OPTION 1 – WE FACE ARROK ALONE WITHOUT THE ORC ALLIANCE

  • I mean who needs the orcs anyway, right? We are way more competent to take on this Arrok by ourselves.
  • However, in order to reach him you will need to find the Minor Gate which is behind the nearby curtain
  • From there we will be practically right on top of Arrok.
  • Despite there seeming like there is no wall in front of you, there actually is. So with this in mind destroy the wall and lets take down Arrok!

OPTION 2 – DEFEATING ARROK WITH THE HELP OF THE ALLIANCE

  • I mean we did just spend god knows how long trying to form the alliance, so this option is the correct one right?
  • Anyway lets grab that key from the Emperor’s tomb shall we?
  • To no real surprise we will now have to fight Emperor Laethar
  • After the fight we can leave the room and tell Urka the good news, we finally have his key!
  • Oh no, looks like Urka has been waiting for us. Darn, we have been betrayed. Teach him a lesson!
  • Anyway after the fight we will now need to go and report back to Brok, so lets head back to the Bloodspear Tribe
  • After speaking with Brok we will now once again need to return back to the Redscar Gate (the area we just came from). Remember when I mentioned that ‘For the time being you can only access the single door’, well there was actually two doors here, one that we ended up going through to reach Necropolis and the other that at the time we couldn’t access, well now we can!
  • After entering through the door we will now be in the Redscar Gate Hall
  • Turns out the alliance didn’t work out after all and all of that effort too, everyone ran off in fear of Arrok. Darn pansies!
  • With that I guess the only orc tough enough to help us is Brok, so lets get this over with. Enter through the following door and lets end Arrok for good!
  • Resumed below..

  • Regardless of whichever option you went with Arrok will drop the same stash which includes a Magnificent Quarterstaff, 99GP, Beautiful Pendant, Metallic Headband and a Primordial Lava Stone. Okay since the volcano is about to erupt I think we should get out of here and quick!
  • There is only one exit really and that is South, leapfrogging the platforms as we go.
  • Here head into the blue teleport and the mission will come to and end

QUEST LOG

  • REACH THE VOLCANO
  • The Crown has granted a vision of a large volcano in the middle of the Badlands. It will be a long and dangerous journey, but it will probably lead to one of the Crown’s gems.
  • You have reached the volcano
  • EXPLORE THE VOLCANO’S SURROUNDINGS
  • Look around the volcanic area for leads to the gem’s location
  • You found the aftermath of a battle, and a surviving orc shaman.
  • TALK TO THE ORC SHAMAN
  • You have learned that an orc shaman called Arrok recently gained immense magical powers, possibly granted by the gem you’re looking for. Explore the caves until you find this Arrok – and possibly the gem that you seek.
  • FREE BROK
  • Brok, the chieftain of the Suncloud tribe, is Arrok’s prisoner. He may be somewhere in the marked area, on display as a trophy of war. Save him and win Kebra’s trust.
  • You entered the volcano but face a guarded gate
  • You reached the market area where Brok was being kept prisoner
  • You freed Brok from his Redscar guardians
  • GET PAST ARBAL
  • You entered the volcano and reached a gate guarded by a famous orc warrior named Arbal. Now you need to get through, and maybe you don’t need to fight
  • You convinced the warrior Arbal to let you enter the inner volcano
  • KILL REDSCAR ORCS
  • You gained access to the orc market. To free Brok, you need to get rid of the orcs guarding him. Those orcs from the Redscar tribe cannot be bartered with; they work for Arrok, the new kind under the volcano.
  • TAKE THE ELEVATOR
  • You have made a deal with Brok and Kebra: you will try to unite the three orc tribes that haven’t yet joined Arrok against him. Descend into the volcano’s heart and meet with the tribe leaders
  • You entered the heart of the volcano, and began your quest for an unlikely orc coalition against the tyrant Arrok
  • CHOICE: VISIT THE BLADEFANG TRIBE
  • Go to the Bloodfang tribe and talk to their chief. Kebra will accompany you.
  • You discovered the Bladefang tribe’s home
  • TALK TO RADULF
  • Find out how to get Bladefang to join your alliance
  • You have spoken to Radulf, the Bladefang chief
  • FIND THE OLD QUEEN
  • To convince Radulf and his tribe to join the alliance, you need to bring a holy item guarded by an old Queen. Enter the dark lair from the crossroad access and kill the monster.
  • You entered the Old Queen’s lair
  • KILL THE OLD QUEEN
  • You discovered who, or rather what, the Old Queen is: a humongous Spider
  • You killed the Old Queen!
  • FIND THE HOLY AXE
  • You found the Holy Axe in Kralshe-Renn’s lair
  • RETURN THE HOLY AXE
  • You found the item Radulf demanded to join the alliance. Return to the Bladefang tribe and show him that you succeeded
  • You refused to give the Holy Axe back and Radulf refused to join the alliance
  • You gave the Holy Sword back to Radulf and he agreed to join the alliance
  • CHOICE: VISIT THE SANDRAVEN TRIBE
  • Go to the Sandraven tribe and talk to their shaman. Kebra will accompany you
  • You have spoken to Urka, the Sandraven shaman.
  • GO THROUGH REDSCAR GATE
  • Urka asked you to find a key somewhere in the Manacalon Necorpolis, beyond Redscar Gate. Go there and explore the Necropolis.
  • You have entered Redscar Gate
  • EXPLORE THE NECROPOLIS
  • The entrance of the Manacalon Necropolis is near Redscar Gate. Enter and find the key somewhere near an Emperor’s tomb.
  • CHOICE: STEAL THE KEY
  • You saw the key inside the Emperor’s tomb
  • You decided to fight the Emperor to get the key
  • RETURN TO URKA
  • You have the key to the Lost City. Bring it back to Urka, as promised.
  • You had a nasty surprise when returning to the Necropolis.
  • DEFEAT URKA
  • You have learned that Urka was actually a Sorak agent!
  • RETURN TO BROK
  • You have done all you can to rally the support of all the orc tribes. Return to Brok and tell him its time to challenge Arrok.
  • You have convinced Brok to challenge Arrok
  • JOIN BROK BEHIND THE REDSCAR GATE
  • Brok is ready to challenge Arrok with you. Go to the Redscar Gate hall and meet the orc who agreed to face Arrok
  • You have convinced Brok
  • CHOICE: USE THE MINOR GATE
  • The Emperor told you there was a Minor Gate leading to Arrok’s throne room.
  • You decided to use the Minor Gate in order to reach Arrok’s throne room.
  • FACE ARROK
  • You have finally found Arrok. Take the gem from him
  • Find a way to confront the orc shaman Arrok. He may have one of the Crown’s gems.
  • KILL ARROK
  • You defeated Arrok and retrieved the gem
  • ESCAPE FROM THE ERUPTING VOLCANO
  • You have found an Imperial Gate and escaped from the volcano
  • CHOICE: VISIT THE BLOODSPEAR TRIBE
  • Go to the Bloodspear tribe and talk to their chief. Kebra will accompany you.
  • Brok has arranged a ritual duel between one of you and Edrof, to take control of his tribe.
  • CHOOSE A WEAPON TO FIGHT, OR OPEN THE DOOR TO FORFEIT THE DUEL
  • According to orc customs, both fighters must be unarmed and spells are prohibited, although other kind of powers can be used. The arena is protected against magic to ensure that no spells are used. Each combatant can pick a set or traditional weapons. Edrof never surprises and always chooses the two-handed Axe. Pick a set of weapons to proceed to the duel. If you exit the arena, you will forfeit the battle in shame.
  • You chose your set of weapons
  • CHOICE: DEFEAT EDROF
  • You defeated Edrof in a one-on-one combat
